Everyone has the right to participate in Auckland’s local elections. To help make this possible, Auckland Council provides a range of services to support disabled communities across the region.

Voting support
Phone voting
People who are blind, vision-impaired or physically unable to mark their voting paper can vote by phone. This service is similar to what is offered in general (parliamentary) elections.
How to vote by phone
1. Call the Electoral Office on 0800 922 822 to request phone voting. You may request this service at any time.
2. If you make your request before voting opens, an electoral official will call you back to record your vote during the voting period.
3. The Electoral Office will confirm your eligibility.
4. A trained electoral official will complete the special voting process with you over the phone. The voting process must be completed during the voting period.
5. Your vote will be submitted securely through a phone dictation process.
