I believe in transparent, accountable decision-making and keeping Council focused on what matters: fixing infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and improving community services. We need a team working at our Council table to deliver for Auckland. My work as a volunteer trustee for Life Education North Shore truly reflects my dedication to our youth and community. As a trained accountant, I’ll ensure rigorous financial oversight maximizing value for every Council dollar. With a laser focus on core service delivery, I am dedicated to: 1. Fix our ageing and failing infrastructure 2. Manage the Council finances with an eye on 'value for money' 3. Improve Public Transport services
1. Push for transformative projects north of the bridge to decisively tackle congestion and boost connectivity. 2. Preserve free parking at our Park and Ride facilities. 3. Improve the reliability and frequency of our ferry services, which includes advocating for weekend sailings.
1. Support Watercare to upgrade wastewater treatment facilities to handle the growth of the Albany Ward. 2. Stricter enforcement of regulations against illegal dumping and pollutant discharge into stormwater networks. 3. Push for better stormwater infrastructure to handle extreme weather to help reduce flooding risks.
Support continued housing intensification in suitable areas, provided that adequate infrastructure capacity, diverse transport options, and accessible green spaces are planned and implemented alongside development to ensure our communities remain enjoyable and livable.
1. Increase sedimentation testing at beaches and marine reserves with strict enforcement against developers breaching environmental rules. 2. Expand enforcement officers, focusing on proactive engagement to educate developers on compliance, preventing breaches. 3. Boost support for community-led restoration groups with more regional funding, training, tools, and advocacy to enhance biodiversity efforts.
1. Invest in local sports facilities and support teams to promote active, healthy lifestyles. Remove financial barriers to ensure all Aucklanders can participate and build community pride. 2. Transform council assets into multi-purpose hubs for events, workshops and recreation. 3. Support our community organisations to network, collaborate and share resources to reduce competition and amplify impact.
1. Empower local business associations with greater authority to host vibrant community events, streamlining approvals for land use and traffic management to boost local economies. 2. Maintain and enhance council assets in town centres, creating inviting destinations to attract visitors and support businesses. 3. Elevate the voices of our diverse community and ensure they help shape Auckland Council's cultural and economic priorities.
1. Ensure that there is a culture of putting the customer and ratepayer at the heart of every interaction and decision-making process. 2. Build an internal appreciation within council that revenue is earned by hardworking ratepayers and expenditure must be treated with care 3. Continue working closely with iwi, mana whenua and tangata whenua to ensure their interests are represented and heard 4. Ensure our community's submissions to consultations are taken seriously.
