Dylan Peter DAVEY

Candidate for Albany Ward

Candidate statement

For 23 years, I have been out, in the community, building on the ground, wading through the councils red tape. Not sitting in boardrooms, writing reports for meetings. I stand to speak up for the end user of the council, You. I want to put a spanner in the cogs, stop the status quo, speak up and ask the awkward questions so you can get the answers you deserve. Enough consultants, enough meetings about meetings. No more unnecessary expensive art. Lets get progress to the people. Like chasing out developers trying to run down Golf Courses to enable developing. Let us build seawalls to protect our coastal properties and communities without an expensive fight. I call a spade a spade and make no apologies to those who don't think it is. And no, this was not generated by AI, just a hard working, hammer swinging builder that is fed up.

Why I want to be elected

I want to evaluate the systems and understand why we keep getting less value for taxpayers money year on year. I want to understand why we as citizens don't get consulted enough, who the people are at the top wasting our time and money, introducing new rules, and legislation without it being their specialty on the ground. As a Builder, a tradie on the ground, I can not process how we are where we are, or, understand who keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper for us all. Less talk, more action.

My key skills and qualities

Real world, on the ground tradie, that takes the hits year after year as the end user of the councils inability to properly plan, and deliver. I have 23 years in construction from apprentice to project manager. Now in my own business for the past 7 years. I call a spade a spade and I don't think anyone but Wayne Brown has the guts to do this. I am not a political person to sell you on my words, but if you want change, a loud and vocal advocate for you and your community, I will be that person.

My top three key issues

3. Community buildings, projects and funding. We need to secure local organization's future to give back to the communities that pay the councilors wages. 2. I would like to see better engagement, asking and delivering what the communities want and need instead of telling them what they get. 1.Finally, the construction side of the council. I want to expose and make people aware of the un-neccesary costs to build that are passed on to you all because of the incompetence of this entire department
