Candidate for Albert-Eden Local Board (Ōwairaka Subdivision)
C&R - Communities and Residents
I live in Point Chevalier with my wife and our three teenagers; this community is our home, and I care deeply about its future. My background is in law, consulting, and senior roles in the private sector and Housing New Zealand. I now run a business helping others succeed. But it's community service that keeps me grounded - as founding Chair of Touch Compass supporting artists of all abilities, School Board Trustee, kids' Football Coach, and Coastguard Volunteer. I bring 30 years experience in finance, management, and governance. These skills help me cut through complexity, focus on what matters, and deliver results that benefit real people. If elected, I will stand up for our neighbourhood - for practical, commonsense solutions that improve everyday life. That means safer streets, reliable transport, well-kept public spaces, and responsible spending that puts your rates to work where they count. Vote Marcus Bosch & C&R.
I’ve lived in Albert-Eden for 15 years, with family roots going back four generations. I’m standing because positive change needs people willing to step up. My goal is to bring practical, common-sense decision-making to the local board—decisions based on what works for our communities, not ideology. I want Albert-Eden to remain one of Auckland’s best places to live and work, with thriving centres, strong communities, and well-maintained parks, facilities, and infrastructure.
People skills: I connect easily, listen, and build respectful relationships across diverse communities. Leadership & management: I’ve led organisations, managed large budgets, and delivered results across the private, public and charitable sectors. Government & business expertise: I modernised Housing NZ ’s property practices, managed complex infrastructure projects, and advised both on property, operations, and strategic planning. My approach is always to focus on delivering better outcomes.
1. Sensible, well-designed growth – Housing and development must be supported by infrastructure, protect local character, and maintain green spaces. 2. Smart council spending – Keep rates as low as possible while investing in services and projects that matter most. 3. Safer, connected communities – Balance the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, public transport users and drivers; improve local amenities; and make neighbourhoods safe, accessible, and vibrant.
I support a balanced, integrated transport system for buses, cars, bikes, and pedestrians. Parking near village centres like Mt Albert, Balmoral and Pt Chevalier must remain practical for residents and businesses. Bus routes and transit hubs need to work for commuters and the people who live alongside them. Transport upgrades should accompany, not lag behind, new development.
Our water supply, stormwater and wastewater systems are critical infrastructure that require long-term strategic planning and sustainable funding. We must maintain and upgrade existing assets while investing in new infrastructure to protect homes, waterways, beaches, and public health.
I back quality housing where it makes sense, but I oppose rushed, poorly planned intensification that risk undermining neighbourhood character. Housing growth must follow infrastructure so we strengthen rather than strain our community.
I will work with local environmental groups to enhance community stewardship of our parks, volcanic heritage and green spaces, planting more trees to absorb carbon and improve amenity. I support practical measures to improve recycling, reduce waste, and promote sustainable transport options that cut emissions while making our neighbourhoods more attractive and enjoyable.
I support sports clubs, arts groups, schools, and community events that bring people together. Whether its weekend sports on local fields to cultural celebrations that reflect our diversity. I will back projects that make public spaces safe, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone.
I will back and help grow local business associations so our town centres remain vibrant, attractive, and accessible. I support practical parking solutions to help local shops, and I will champion events that celebrate Albert-Eden’s diverse cultures while boosting the local economy.
Good governance means listening to residents and communities, planning ahead, and delivering value for money. That means focusing on delivering Council services well, making sensible investments, and cutting waste. I support outcomes for Māori that strengthen community wellbeing, alongside outcomes for all residents. Council must engage widely, including engaging with those who can’t attend meetings, to ensure decisions reflect the needs of the whole community.
