Candidate for Franklin Local Board (Pukekohe Subdivision)
Independent
Franklin deserves leaders who listen, lead with integrity, and deliver real results. People across our community want safer streets, smarter transport, and homes supported by the right infrastructure and green space. They expect council to be transparent, responsible, and make every dollar count. I'm standing to help make that happen. I live in Karaka with my young family and care deeply about the people who call Franklin home. With a background in finance and leadership roles across health, utilities and community sectors, I bring strong governance and a practical understanding of how to get things done. As Deputy CEO of a national charity, I know how to deliver impact while managing resources wisely. My priorities: Infrastructure that supports a thriving, growing population; Access to quality public services, delivered locally; Real value for ratepayers through efficient, effective services.
Franklin is a proud, connected community. I’m running for the Local Board to deliver integrity, strong leadership, and real results—safer roads, future-ready infrastructure, vibrant events, and more green spaces. As a local, I listen to residents and act on their needs, making decisions with transparency and respect. Together, we can build a Franklin we’re proud to pass on.
I’m a values-driven leader with deep Franklin roots, combining strategic vision, operational focus, and integrity to deliver results. With strong governance, financial oversight, and collaboration skills, I advocate for practical, people-focused solutions. Committed to equity, safety, and community wellbeing, I build trust, listen well, and act decisively to create a thriving, connected Franklin.
If elected, I’ll focus on three priorities: 1. Smart infrastructure to match Franklin’s growth, ensuring safe roads, reliable transport, and sustainable services; 2. Equitable access to quality local facilities, parks, and support services for all communities; and 3. Delivering real value for ratepayers through efficient, transparent, and accountable use of funds. My approach is inclusive, future-focused, and grounded in local experience.
Franklin’s rapid growth brings both opportunities and challenges. We need safer, less congested roads and reliable, frequent public transport. I’ll champion smart, inclusive planning and investment that benefits both urban and rural communities. Having seen the strain caused by lagging infrastructure, I’m committed to ensuring growth is sustainable, well-supported, and delivers for everyone.
Auckland’s water must be managed sustainably, with secure supply, high quality standards, and robust stormwater and wastewater systems. Investment should prioritise resilience to climate impacts, protect waterways, and ensure infrastructure keeps pace with growth. Every community—urban and rural—deserves reliable, safe water services that safeguard health, the environment, and future generations.
I support well-planned urban development that delivers quality, affordable homes alongside transport, water, and community facilities. Growth should protect green spaces, honour our heritage, and strengthen neighbourhood character, ensuring vibrant, connected communities that work for current and future generations.
We should protect and enhance natural spaces by restoring habitats, controlling pests, and expanding parks and reserves. We must strengthen climate resilience through tree planting, improved drainage, and flood protection. Practical action, strong partnerships, and smart investment will safeguard biodiversity, reduce risks from extreme weather, and keep Auckland’s environment healthy for future generations.
We should build strong, connected communities by investing in local facilities, parks, libraries, and events that bring people together. Services must be accessible, inclusive, and meet the needs of all ages. Planning should prioritise safety, connection, and wellbeing, with decisions shaped by community voices. Strong neighbourhoods are built on shared spaces, trust, and local pride.
I’ll support initiatives that support local businesses, attract investment, and promote skill development. I’ll back initiatives that showcase Franklin’s unique cultural heritage, growing tourism and community pride. By connecting businesses with opportunities, fostering innovation, and celebrating our diverse history, we can create jobs, strengthen the local economy, and keep our identity vibrant.
I support delivering strong Māori outcomes through genuine partnership and investment in iwi-led initiatives. The Port of Auckland should be managed responsibly for economic and environmental benefit. I back growing the Auckland Future Fund to secure long-term returns for ratepayers. Storm recovery must prioritise resilient infrastructure, faster repairs, and community support to reduce future risk.
