Candidate for Franklin Ward
ACT Local
Ratepayers have been let down by Auckland Council with higher rates, wasteful spending, and neglected public services. It’s time to give Council a wake-up call and focus on the things that matter locally. As a Maraetai resident for over two decades, I understand the local pressures on our community, and my background with 30 years of senior leadership in logistics and infrastructure means I have the hands-on expertise needed to deliver practical solutions that maximise value for ratepayers’ money. By voting for me as an ACT candidate, you know what you are going to get: I will keep rates down, focus on effective service delivery without the wasteful spending, support our local producers by upholding property rights and reducing red tape. If you want to see common sense back around the council table, please give me one of your votes.
Kia ora Franklin, My name is Dene Green, and I’m standing as the Franklin Ward candidate for ACT Local. I’ve been proud to call Maraetai home for over 21 years. With more than 30 years of senior leadership in logistics, infrastructure, and business strategy, I bring real-world, solutions-focused experience — not more politics. I’m running because Franklin deserves better: smarter spending, stronger local priorities, and a Council that respects your hard-earned money. Ratepayers Deserve Better.
I have more than 30 years of senior leadership in logistics, infrastructure, and business strategy, I would bring real-world, solutions-focused experience to the council — not more politics.
Why I want to be elected Ratepayers have been let down by higher rates, more bureaucracy, wasteful pet projects and neglected basics. It’s time to focus on what matters – safe streets, working infrastructure and value for money. After 23 years living in Franklin, I understand our community’s needs and will bring solutions to deliver real change locally. By voting for me as an ACT Local candidate, you know I’ll keep rates down, stop wasteful spending, and deliver essential services. My
My Transport Priorities Roads Franklin’s rural and coastal communities depend heavily on safe, reliable roads. My priority is to secure investment in upgrading and maintaining our rural roading network, with a focus on: Fixing dangerous sections of Whitford–Maraetai Road and the Clevedon–Kawakawa Bay–Kaiaua route. Reducing congestion pinch points into urban Auckland. Ensuring ratepayer money goes into real safety upgrades rather than poorly designed or unnecessary projects.
Managing Auckland’s Water Water Supply We must secure long-term, sustainable water sources to protect Auckland against drought. That means investing in resilient supply options like new storage, smarter use of Waikato River allocations, and stronger demand management. Franklin ratepayers should not be left paying for inefficiency — every drop must be used wisely. Water Quality Clean waterways are non-negotiable. I’ll push for targeted investment to reduce sediment and contaminants entering our
Urban Development Growth must be planned — not imposed. Franklin shouldn’t carry the cost of poor planning in the city centre. I’ll push for balanced growth that supports existing communities, protects productive land, and ensures infrastructure is in place before development happens. Housing We need housing that is affordable, fit for purpose, and supported by local amenities. I back diverse housing solutions, but not at the expense of rural character or coastal identity. Growth must respect e
Natural Spaces Auckland’s coastlines, parks, and rural landscapes are central to our identity. I want Council investment to prioritise restoring and maintaining local natural areas — from beaches like Maraetai to reserves such as Duder and Hunua. Community partnerships in planting, pest control, and coastal care should be supported with real funding, not just words. Biodiversity Our ecosystems are under pressure. I’ll back practical, science-based programmes to protect native forests, wetlands,
Building Strong Communities & Local Wellbeing Stronger Local Voice Communities thrive when decisions are made closer to home. I’ll push for more local accountability within Council so Franklin’s needs aren’t lost in the Super City model. Local boards and residents should have a real say in shaping their towns, schools, and facilities. Services & Facilities Franklin deserves facilities that keep pace with growth. That means delivering a Pōhutukawa Coast high school with shared community ameniti
Boosting Economic Growth, Supporting Business & Promoting Heritage Economic Growth Franklin is the front door of the Waikato and the back door of Auckland. My vision is to unlock its role as a driver of the Golden Triangle economy. That means investing in smart infrastructure, protecting productive land, and supporting industries like logistics, horticulture, aquaculture, and renewable energy. Growth must be future-focused and sustainable. Supporting Local Businesses Small and medium businesse
Delivering Māori Outcomes, Managing the Port, Future Fund & Storm Recovery Māori Outcomes Partnership with mana whenua must be practical and respectful — delivering real outcomes in housing, employment, environmental protection, and cultural recognition. I support building stronger pathways for Māori youth into trades, infrastructure, and business, while ensuring Council honours commitments to Te Tiriti in ways that benefit the whole community. Port of Auckland The Port is a vital asset, but i
