Experienced, hard-working, approachable and committed to my community. For too long West Auckland has received less than the supercity promised. We deserve our fair share and access to the city's prosperity and opportunities. I know how local government operates and I know how we can make it work for everyone. I have eighteen years’ experience in business ownership and operation. With two terms governing on the local board, my determination and strong consensus leadership style has enabled me to deliver. Through my council and community involvement, I understand the issues we face. I will back initiatives that contribute to West Auckland’s economy, rapid transit investment along the Northwestern, environmental stewardship and investment in desperately needed infrastructure. I don’t take sides, I don’t belong to any political party, I am totally focused on what is best for the West community. Vote for me and I’ll fight for more for our community!
Local government is more important now than ever; decisions made close to the people they affect have tremendous value. I am standing for re-election to ensure we continue to get the investment we need for our community. Prosperity and opportunity must be shared across all of Auckland and I will continue to advocate and fight passionately for investment that enables a vibrant, strong and prosperous Henderson-Massey. West Auckland deserves its fair share of what the supercity promised.
Experienced and hardworking. Six years governing on the Henderson-Massey local board, 17 years in small business ownership and operation, four years governing on the Rutherford School Board of trustees and various community volunteer work. I am well-connected and responsive to our community. I work positively with others to get things done.
1. Thriving communities - Our people are our greatest strength, and I am committed to creating vibrant neighbourhoods that are safe, connected and where people know they belong. 2. Investing in infrastructure - I will fight for much-needed infrastructure to support the growth in the area. Better bus services and a rapid-transit busway. 3. Environmental protection and climate resilience - investing in water quality, making space for water and action on climate change.
Infrastructure investment in the West that provides faster and more efficient commuter rail alongside CRL. Better bus services, safer walking/cycling and a rapid-transit busway along the Northwestern. I will advocate for a child and student weekly public transport fare cap and on reducing harm caused by Auckland’s transport system, especially through improved road safety.
Safe, reliable and affordable drinking water for all. Fight for our rivers, harbours, estuaries and freshwater ecosystems to be restored. Enable much-needed investment in water infrastructure and support the extension of the water quality targeted rate.
I will advocate for prosperous, inclusive, and vibrant communities with housing intensification to concentrate on the suburbs where the $billions of infrastructure has been invested. Substantial infrastructure investment is needed for the Inner Northwest (Westgate and Redhills). Advocate to restrict buildings in flooding or hazardous areas.
Focus on reducing risk and being better prepared for flooding, investing in the making space for water program. Support increasing our local tree canopy, investment in pest management and local community nurseries. Advocate to complete the Te Whau Pathway.
Support for multi-board funding to service assets to cross-regional boarders. Value our amazing local community volunteer organisations making a huge impact on our environment. Maintain the parks and community assets and invest in growth areas.
Prioritise a thriving West Auckland economy that supports growth, opportunities for all, and attracts investment in the area. Develop a local economic plan for West Auckland. Expansion and support for the Te Puna Creative Hub and urban regeneration work in Henderson. Work alongside our Business Improvement Districts to improve our local business environment and boost the economy.
Committment to honouring Te Tiriti and enabling Te Tiriti outcomes through ongoing relationship. Focus on Mana Whenua and Mataawaka storytelling, history, naming, language and cultural traditions in public spaces. Support for a bed night visitor levy. Invest in fit-for-purpose technology to improve processes and invest in renewable energy that will significantly impact the rapidly rising operational costs.
