If I elected, I will continue to be a strong Pacific voice for the things Westies care about, safe and thriving neighborhoods and communities that are well maintained and cared for.
I listen and put the community's voice at the top. I've grown up in this area so I am familiar with the diverse communities here and all the different things we need and value.
Safe and secure neighborhoods and town centres. Well resourced Community Hubs and Libraries. Public transport and associated infrastructure to match the growing intensification.
Our priority should be fighting for our fair share of Public Transport spending. The West is bearing a lot of Auckland's growth so this is vital.
Its no secret that Auckland's umderground water infrastructure needs overdue attention. There are a couple of big projects underway to help this but these are still years from completion. In the meantime we need to protect and clean our waterways and keep making way for water as we experience the effects of Climate Change.
Clever urban design is vital as we look to rejuvenate our town centres and neighborhoods. We don't have as much money to spend so we have to think more.
This needs to be everyone's priority. We are part of the environment and so in taking care of nature, we are taking care of ourselves and each other.
We need to support free events and activities that offer our people a chance to connect with their community. It could be through supporting festivals and occasions and also local groups who know and work in this area.
Strong businesses build strong communities. They are vital not just for our economic well-being but help to foster a sense of place and prosperity.
I would love to see a closer relationship between council and tangata whenua. What's good for Maori is good for everyone and helps us all survive and thrive. I'm glad the city still owns the Port which will continue to benefit Aucklanders. I'm glad we have a future fund but I still think we didn't have to sell the airport shares to achieve that fund.
