Vincent has been dedicated to West Auckland since 1989. He is involved in governance, advocacy, and volunteer roles, including as Vice President of Waitakere Grey Power Association, Waitakere Ethnic Board member, community advocate for people with special needs and seniors. He is a radio talk host and a Justice of the Peace. He has held senior management roles and manages investment holdings. Vincent has an informed understanding of the issues, challenges and aspirations of West Auckland residents and their families. Vincent is committed to: Investing in modern and accessible community facilities; Promoting frequent and reliable public transport; Maintaining streets, parks and public spaces; Supporting grassroots cultural events; Backing local patrols and street lighting upgrades; Revitalising Henderson and growing local economy. Vincent has held senior management roles in government, especially in the justice sector and manages investment holdings. His experience spans: * Leadership * Advocacy * Governance * Service delivery. Vincent's extensive career and voluntary community roles has equipped him with the expertise to navigate, network, represent and drive impactful changes. Vincent's primary focus lies in effective local board governance to represent and promote the best interests of residents and local community.
Vincent enables and champions the wants for: * Safe, inclusive, and resilient communities with civic pride - revitalise Henderson CBD with welcoming events, entertainment and quality retail businesses. * Connected neighbourhoods - with frequent, affordable and reliable public transport, safer walking and cycle routes with upgraded lighting. * A full operational public hospital to provide comprehensive medical and health services for the current and future health needs of all residents.
* Ensure that our streets, footpaths, cycle routes and walking tracks are well-maintained to drive and safe to walk on. * Support fast, frequent, safe and affordable integrated public transport throughout the area. * A rapid transit corridor on the northwestern motorway. * Provide free Wifi on trains, bus stops and council amenities to enhance connectivity, work productivity and safety. * Install more bus shelters especially for elderly, people with special needs and disabilities.
* Ongoing monitoring of our drinking water that it is safe, very high standard and affordable water rates. * Advocate for upgrades of our wastewater and stormwater infrastructure due to housing intensification and developments. * Increase partnerships with environmental groups like Eco Matters Trust and Motu Manawa to help manage and improve local water resources. * Develop Blue - Green corridors to mitigate flood risks and provide recreational green spaces.
* Better connected communities through investing, preserving and maintaining our green spaces, playgrounds, community hubs and sports facilities. * Work with council-controlled organisations, Kāinga Ora and private developers to develop sustainable and affordable housing that promotes togetherness. * Advocate for universal and quality design standards for fit for purpose amenities for new developments and housing for residents particularly elderly, people with special needs and disabilities.
* Advocate for community groups that support ecological community restoration projects, community gardens and plant fruit trees in public spaces to promote food sustainability, healthy lifestyles and social cohesion in our neighbourhoods. * Increase tree canopy areas, tree planting for roadways and support community native nursery projects to restore wetlands and urban forest areas. * Support weed bin programme in neighbourhoods to encourage the eradication of pest plant species.
* Ongoing support for an aquatic centre in Northwest and address the legacy of underinvestment in recreational amenities in Henderson-Massey. * Support a range of grassroots, cultural, festive, sporting events and concerts that bring people together and revitalise our town centres. * Have open-air markets, community gardens and free outdoor events to bring vitality to our urban neighborhoods. * Promote Neighbourhood Support Scheme, street BBQs, markets and community gardens for social cohesion.
* Collaborate with business community and residents to revitalise Henderson CBD, enliven our retail and commercial centres in Henderson-Massey. * Promote and support our creative, wine, tech-green industries and nature tourism. * Support upgrades at the Corban Estate Arts Centre as a welcoming tourist destination. * Support vocational and trade training for youths at local educational institutions. * Partnership with local employers and business community for youth work placement opportunities.
* Increase voter participation and engagement - outreach programmes at schools, public events, support adoption of online voting and the use of digital platforms to encourage greater participation in local matters. * Engagement with mana whenua and support initiatives that enhance the visibility of te reo Māori, local mana whenua stories and events. * Regular open public forums at community hubs and street corner meetings to enhance public engagement, transparency and accountability.
