Vote Leanne Willis - a strong, community-driven voice with heart, humour, and a clear focus on what truly matters.
I want to be elected to the local board so I can ensure our community's voice is heard and reflected in the decisions that affect us every day. Local issues need local solutions, and I'm committed to working alongside our community to achieve positive practical outcomes.
I bring a diverse background to the local board. My experience in law and banking has given me a strong foundation in governance, accountability, and financial management. As a former business owner and administrator of a pension fund, I understand both the challenges local people face and the importance of making sound, future-focused decisions. Also my work as an entertainer and photographer reflects my creative side and my ability to connect with people.
Strong community voice in decision-making - I believe local people know what works best for their neighbourhoods. My approach is flexible and responsive - if new information arises or residents clearly express their priorities. Responsive growth and development - Our area is growing quickly and with that comes both opportunities and challenges. I want to see development that is well-planned sustainable and in balance with what the residents value most about living here. Fiscal responsibility
Transport is a key issue for our community, and I want to see improvements that make it easier and safer for people to get where they need to go. A top priority is retaining the Gulf Harbour ferry service, which is a vital link for commuters and residents and continuing to advocate for its long-term reliability. I will also continue advocating for better quality roads that are safe, well maintained and future-proofed. Alongside this I support improving connectivity with public transportation.
Recent floods have highlighted how vulnerable our community is when basic infrastructure & maintenance are overlooked. Blocked drains, poorly maintained waterways, & the pressure of rapid development, with more concrete & less green space, are making flooding worse. My priority is to push for better planning & investment in stormwater management, with regular maintenance of drains & waterways. We also need smarter approaches to development & also I believe every newbuild should include watertanks.
Our community is growing & with that growth comes the need to balance housing, infrastructure & heritage. I believe that any future developments must be guided by practical, evidence-based solutions ensuring that infrastructure can meet both current & future demand. Without this planning, growth risks outpacing the services & facilities people rely on. Wherever possible, I believe we should protect heritage buildings and sites, honouring our history while planning for the future.
Auckland’s natural spaces are some of our greatest treasures & it’s vital that we protect them for the future. The Orewa Reserve is at the heart of our community & I believe it must be preserved for generations to come. The community has provided strong & thoughtful input, presenting an alternative option. This approach I believe, ensures that the reserve remains protected while still allowing people to enjoy & connect with the space, honouring our environment for generations to come.

I believe it is important to strengthen culture & protect heritage, as these are what give our communities their identity & sense of belonging. At the same time, I also believe this should not come at the expense of fairness & equality for all. My approach is to ensure that heritage & cultural values are respected & upheld, while also considering the interests & needs of the wider community. By working collaboratively, protect our past, celebrate diversity & remain inclusive.
