I'm passionate about serving our Hibiscus Coast community and protecting our unique spaces. If elected, I'll fight to restore Gulf Harbour Golf Course, advocate for a rock revetment wall Orewa beach. I'll push for more green spaces, like a new Millwater sports facility, and upgrades to parks and facilities. I'll advocate for better transport, including free park-and-ride, enhanced ferry services, and Pen link delivery. My focus is community-led solutions, ensuring our area thrives for everyone
As a local landscaper I have a depth of knowledge about parks and reserves, how to maintain them better, make them safer and more economical to maintain. I currently help coordinate the massive community effort, mowing, pest plant and preservation of the gulf harbor country club land, which has built my skills in community engagement, fundraising and organization. I can apply all of this directly relevant experience on the community board.
-Gulf harbor Country club (Community ownership & business viability) and strengthen the protection/ covenant. -Improve existing public transport services (7-day/reliable gulf harbor ferry service. -Bus services more direct routes). -The Weiti walkway/cycle way from Arkle's to Silverdale -Preservation of Orewa Reserve by building an economical rock revetment similar to the northern end of the beach this will safeguard the trees, playground, public parking and the volleyball/basketball courts
My transport priorities are enhancing the Gulf Harbour ferry with reliable seven-day week service and a fast-foiling ferry, keeping park-and-ride free, and ensuring Penlink stays on track. I’ll push for better bus routes, like NX1/NX2 expansion (Direct Orewa/Whangaparaoa link, and a new Whangaparaoa Bus Station. For active transport, I’ll support a Weiti River walkway/cycleway to connect Arkle's Bay to Silverdale, and also connections to Orewa and Milldale.
Our hibiscus first team will push for a rapid improvement to the sewage treatment plants in army bay so new developments can connect to the sewage as right now they can't and this is unacceptable. Furthermore, we will advocate to reduce the storm water that's getting into the wastewater and causing overflows to our beaches. Lastly fairer and cheaper wastewater charging for households on water tanks.
I will push for lower density housing across the hibiscus coast especially in locations like Whangaparaoa where there are infrastructure limitations including roading and sewage.
I’m passionate about protecting The Archers block which is 23hecters of bush, tracks and streams that run from Whangaparaoa road down to the Weiti estuary the Hibiscus People First Team will push for the completion of the Weiti walkway/cycle from Arkle's bay through to Silverdale then the upper Weiti walkway/cycle way linking to Milldale then back to Orewa. Plus saving our biggest green space at the gulf harbor country club. I will advocate for stronger sediment controls to save our beaches.
I’ll help build an even stronger Hibiscus Coast community by championing local control of assets like Gulf Harbour Golf Course and boosting engagement through Restore Hibiscus Coast and Bays & Forest and bird. I’ll push for upgraded facilities, like Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre and Metro Park (new indoor sports facility), and new green spaces like the Millwater reserve. Enhancing services, including a reliable 7-day reliable Ferry service and ensuring park and rides are free.
I will support all local business within the hibiscus coast area districts, encourage people to shop local and use local services, support local clubs and society's financially through grants and encourage buy local initiatives.
Hibiscus People first will ensure transparent decision-making and ensure open forums and community meetings to ensure every voice is heard.
