I have lived in Bucklands Beach and Pakuranga since 1991 and hold an MSc degree from the University of Auckland. A business owner in photographic and digital printing, I also bring experience from education, IT, and manufacturing sectors. I am married to Gwendolin, and we have two sons, both Macleans College graduates. I am actively involved in our community as: Neighbourhood Support Street Coordinator; Treasurer of the Glen Innes Business Association; and Deacon at our church. I will: fight for fair operating and capital funding for Howick local board; advocate for a safer neighbourhood for families in Howick; improve road and public transport safety; work to revitalize Pakuranga especially the area around Pakuranga Plaza. Please vote and support me so I can work on your behalf.
I’m ready to commit fully to serving and improving the place we live and love. If elected, I’ll fight for better funding allocation to Howick to deliver the much-needed projects. Together, we can invest in upgraded facilities, a healthier environment, and a safer community. Let’s strengthen our neighborhoods, address local concerns, and ensure Howick remains a place we’re all proud to call home.
With a science degree, I have a detail-oriented, evidence-based approach to problem-solving. As a business owner, I balance practical solutions with long-term sustainability. Currently Treasurer of a business association, I’ve gained hands-on governance experience. Now, I’m ready to bring that same proactive mindset to the Howick Local Board: tackling challenges head-on, driving measurable improvements, and ensuring every project delivers real value for our community.
Fair Funding for Howick Howick, Auckland’s largest ward, has been underfunded for years. We need equitable investment to deliver the critical projects. Revitalizing Pakuranga I’ll push for upgrades to parks, playgrounds, and community centres—ensuring these spaces meet the needs of our growing population. A Safer Howick From crime prevention to flood and landslide resilience, I’ll advocate for proactive solutions that keep our neighborhoods safe and secure.
Our suburban communities depend on safe, efficient roads for daily life. At the same time, I support building better public transport options. The new busway will make services faster and more reliable when completed. I'll advocate for safe, well-maintained roads for all users, smoother transitions during construction. And a public transport system that's both safe and reliable.
We're fortunate to have clean water at our taps. I'll ensure our water infrastructure remains robust and our supply meets the highest quality standards. With increasing flooding risks, our stormwater systems, stream monitoring and management are very important. I will support promotion and education on what not to go into the wastewater. We work to prevent sewer pipes blockage and contaminant to go into the environment.
Our urban development needs to be intensified to meet the population growth and the needs of affordable housing. But it should not be a one size fits all policy in planning; local government should have more control. The intensification needs to be controlled and balanced against the setting of our neighborhoods. So, developments will not overload the communities. Infrastructure needs to keep up with the developments, like roading, sewage, schools, recreation facilities, etc.
We have a beautiful city and coastal environment. This is very much relied on our natural spaces that needs to be preserved. Let's restore and protect our coastal area and forests. Planting native trees for insects, birds and animals. Eradicating pest plants and weeds are some of the ongoing works we can promote and work together in the communities. Also, we can support education at school and communities on waste reduction and hands on environmental protection activities.
Design and layout our facilities, like the libraries in a more welcoming setting. Support and empower local groups to interact, provide services, skill sharing, hobby, training workshops, etc. Expand the use of these facilities for multiple uses, events, learning, performance and cultural connection. Strong communities thrive when people feel heard, supported, and connected.
To start, let's use local businesses and contractors for council work locally. Provide a safe and secure environment, so people can focus on growing their businesses and providing local employment. We can revitalize main streets with markets for different festival celebrations. Finding affordable spaces for artists and entrepreneurs, to make vibrant town centres. Establishing local business association will help to improve the business districts and organizing promotion events.
I am keen to build ongoing relationships with Howick’s mana whenua and Māori communities. Their perspectives and mātauranga (knowledge) will be sought and valued in our decision-making processes.
