Candidate for Howick Ward
Flat Bush residents deserve a representative who truly reflects our diverse community. I am not in governance for a career - I am here to deliver positive change. As a dedicated parent, business owner, academic and flat bush resident my practical leadership and governance experience make me an ideal champion for our community. Serving on several school boards has given me insights into meeting diverse needs, strategic planning, and fiscal responsibility. Being an academic quality lead has strengthened my commitment to accountability and transparency. Organising local events has connected me with residents and their aspirations ensuring people are at the centre of decision-making. I am committed to ensuring responsible use of council resources, being visible, results-driven, and truly independent. My passion and leadership will deliver meaningful change, and I will advocate for the long-overdue Flat Bush community centre - delivered, not delayed. Together, we can achieve a thriving, future-focused community.
Howick Ward residents deserve a representative who stands for our diverse community, I will do this. As a long term resident I have supported positive change running community classes and I will continue to work for real results that make a positive difference in our community. I understand the opportunities and disadvantages of being a small business owner and will support local businesses to thrive for the success of the economy and local residents. I advocate for healthy, strong families.

My passion and results-driven leadership will deliver meaningful change. I commit to: Work diligently to fast track the Flat Bush community and aquatic centre, creating spaces to make Flat Bush a community for its people; Maintain fiscal responsibility and accountability to our residents, ensuring transparent and responsible use of council resources, and Advocate for community-led initiatives that meet the needs of our diverse communities within our local Ward.
Plan for and fast-track work that minimises traffic congestion at peak times to improve commute times and reduce environmental impacts. Improve alternative travel options in dense areas to reduce school traffic, improve health and ensure safety for children. Advocate for transparency of transport funding across the Howick Ward, working to minimise costs.
Plan for future growth by ensuring funds are allocated well in advance to essential services such as building dams and upgrading pipes. Maintain high standards on new infrastructure while considering innovation. Ensure transparency and accountability from council organisations to work toward reducing operational costs and enhancing efficacy. Advocate for council support for homeowners to become self-sufficient, easing burden on council resources and rate payers.
Advocate for homes that are fit for purpose taking into account family size, warmth and transport options, to enhance human wellbeing. Work to minimise 'red-tape' in developments, prioritising sustainable options and future infrastructure needs. Protect historic heritage sites for both partners of te tiriti o Waitangi, maintaining future viability and current stewardship.
Educate residents on environmental issues in our community to raise awareness and facilitate behaviour change. Fast-track local initiatives and funding to prevent the destruction and erosion of natural coastal and parks areas, empowering the community to solve environmental issues. Advocate for changes that reduce illegal dumping and rubbish, while making legal dumping easier to access to provide a safe, clean Howick Ward area.
Get the Ormiston Community Centre moving forward, reduce delays and advocate for useable, accessible spaces the community can access now. Push for the Ormiston Aquatic Centre - ten years is too long! We need action now to meet the demands of growth. Support and fund grass-roots initiatives and events that meet the needs of our diverse communities, ensuring dispersed funds. Support the continuance of long-standing events that have significant positive impact for people and tourism in our Ward.
Promote local business within our region to support economic growth and availability of employment. Reduce bureaucracy so business' and organisations can gain funding to train and place young people into employment. Listen to and represent the voice of all diverse communities to enhance cross-cultural collaborative initiatives which promote partnerships and growth. Maintain council facilities to a high standard with ease of access for all in the community.
Ensure that council communication/consultation is culturally appropriate, timely and seeks to enhance the wellbeing of tangata whenua to promote Maori values. Ensure both parties of te Tiriti o Waitangi needs are meet and upheld in a manner that strengthens unity, future stability and responsible stewardship of all resources. Keeping New Zealand's natural resources secure for our future generations. Keep the needs of future residents at the forefront when making globally influenced decisions.
