Auckland Council is going through financial pressures and will likely affect and reducing main services to the community, such as parks, libraries, pools and facilities. If elected, I'll be advocating for current services to be maintained where possible and ensuring our community has a voice in the vital decisions for Mangere-Otahuhu’s future growth.
My key skills and qualities accrued over my 15 years since elected on the MO Local Board in 2010, qualifies me to continue serving the people of Mangere and Otahuhu. Advocating to maintain free swimming pools and library services for our community and funding local art program and activities at the Mangere Art Centre. Working closely Parks and Transport units to provide quality service s to our community with suitable bus stops and structural roading to prevent floodings.
Mana Whenua - aspirations our Whānau and Rangatahi are heard and supported. Parks & Reserves - housing developments have changed the layout of Mangere-Otahuhu and my passion is to ensure our fields for our children is quality and accessible playgrounds for future growth. Otahuhu Streetscape - is a multi-million-dollar project that is incomplete and needs to be completed to ensure the main route of Great South Rd is structural sound and safe for our community.
Roads in the Mangere-Otahuhu area have improved over the years, Public transport - improved bus routes with connecting other main transport hub in the south and improved fare systems and moving away from the hop cards to eftpos cards. Cycling/Walking - cycle lanes have changed the road layout in Mangere and the importance of our community's views and input into the projects and AT to consult our community in the shared lanes.
Environmental changes and housing development has contributed to how it has affected Aucklands water management with flooding becoming frequent. Backyard water tanks could help with easing of the water flow and build up during a heavy down pour.
