Candidate statement

Fe’etau Lafulafu Peo, a proud Māngere resident for over 25 years, is deeply rooted in the community where he lives, works, and raises his family. A qualified health professional with a Bachelor and Diploma in Social Work, he is passionate about supporting the wellbeing of Māngere-Ōtāhuhu’s diverse communities. Fe’etau has served as a Justice of the Peace and broadcaster with Radio Samoa for over 24 years, and has contributed leadership to various boards. If re-elected, Fe’etau pledges to continue advocating for seniors, youth, and uniquely abled communities. He will work to maintain free access to swimming pools, invest in local sports infrastructure, and expand safe walkways and recreational spaces. 'I am committed to using all my experience to serve our community with integrity and heart.'

Why I want to be elected

I want to be elected because I care deeply about our Mangere-Otahuhu community. As a current Local Board Member, i have seen the difference we can make when we listen to people and act on their needs. I want to contnue advocationg for initiatives that matter to our families-such as free access to swimming pools, quality parks, and other community improvements. Being elected will allow me to keep serving, making sure our voices are heard and our community continues to grow stronger together

My key skills and qualities

I bring over 25 years of experience as a Social Worker, health worker, and Justice of the Peace for more than 24 years. These roles have strengthened my skills in listening, problem solving, and supporting people from all waks of life. I have a strong sense of fairness, integrity, and compassion, and I know how to work with individual and families to find practical solutions. Most importantly, I bring a genuine commitment to serve and to be a strong voice for our Mangere-Otahuhu community.

My top three key issues

I am passionate about keeping our swimming pools free and improving access to sports and recreation, because every family deserves opportunities to stay health and active. I will continue to advocate for good parks and more playgrounds, so our children have safe places to play and our families can spend quality time together. With my background in social and health work, I am committed to supporting services that uplift families, improve wellbeing, and ensure no one is left behind.
