Candidate for Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board

Malo e Lelei, I've lived in Mangere-Bridge for 39 years with my family, 5 adult children 8 grandchildren. I've lived in NZ for 50 years. I love my community. I've served Mangere-Otahuhu as a Local Board Member for 2 terms, and Electorate Advisor for Parliamentary Services. A member of Counties Manukau West Pacific Leaders Forum, Mangere Town Centre Safety Network and Mangere LEC Executive. I've served on the BoT, Onehunga High School, Mangere Bridge Primary and Newton Central Schools. A former Chairperson of the Mangere Citizen Advice Bureau and volunteered for Mangere and Otara CAB's. I've held elected positions in Manukau City Council's as Pacific Advisory committee and Tongan Health Society, Langimalie Clinic. I'm committed to continue advocating for our fair share of resources in tough times. My experience and leadership brings value to tasks required. Vote for me and the labour team for strong community voices for all.
As a current member of the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board, and for the last three terms, I remain committed to continue advocating for our fair share of the limited resources in the present economic challenges. My experience, leadership and understandings the local issues will help constitute the outcome thats needed in every task.

Community Safety and wellbeing, Advocate for procurement opportunities for local businesses and funding to address homelessness in our community. Continue to support the advocacy and reduction of alcohol harm in communities
Advocate for accessible and frequent free public transport Early consultation with the community on the "Share the Road"
Collecting and storing rainwater for uses like gardening or toilet flushing can reduce water uses demanding. And educating residents about responsible water useage
As Auckland population grow over the next few years, Auckland make sure growth and development are appropriately service the needs of the community in terms of jobs and public transport etc.. We need to protect our heritage properties and manage places of historical and cultural significance such as Ihumatao in Mangere
Home insulation, Rooftop solar, electric bikes, choose efficient appliances and save power at home. Community education and information sharing with community groups.
Empowering communities, Despite the financial challenges facing our city, Mangere and Otahuhu Local Board comprises aspiration outcomes and objectives will carry out to achieve them. Our plan and priorities well-connected communities for easy access to public transport, cycleways and walkways. Community Engagement; use community grants, facilities, leases and network deliver a range of services that supporting community groups
1. Advocate for procurement opportunities for our local businesses 2. Support our Art and Culture and funding opportunities for Artist 3. we want to attract and retain businesses in our Mangere Town centre and Otahuhu Businesses
Mangere and Otahuhu Local Board currently support Maori outcomes through; Annual Matariki and Waitangi celebrations to promote and preserve these important occasions. We supported The Ara Kotui programme, The Kete Rukuruku programme. Engage with local marae to support cultural and community wellbeing intiatives and Strengthen partnership with local Mana Whenua through project delivery
