I own a mortgage brokerage company - I understand numbers. My family, friends and many clients live in the Manurewa Local Board area. I see many people struggling with the cost-of-living pressures. I want to use my skills to get better outcomes for residents - safer streets, infrastructure that works and reducing wasteful expenditure.
My strengths are governance, accountability and outcomes. I am conscious of managing public funds and am a reliable, safe pair of hands, and will deliver better outcome for Manurewa residents. I am an experienced manager, company director and trustee. I am standing as an Independent and can work constructively with board members to achieve outcomes and hold decision makers to account.
My top issues are: 1. Weekly Rubbish collections and greater penalties for illegal rubbish dumping. 2. Continued free access to libraries, parks, sports grounds and swimming pools. 3 I m an advocate for Safer Communities that includes, stop roaming dogs. policing of illegal dirt bikes and better roading and transport planning across Manurewa.
I want the fundamentals to work and return to decisions that work for Manurewa. I want traffic that flows, footpaths that are functional and drains cleaned so they do not flood. I am opposed to unnecessary speed bumps and cycle ways cycle that require high levels of maintaince and narrow roadways.
I want to support local projects that ensures quality water flows through well maintained pipes into homes. I want stormwater and sewage infrastructure that is reliable and does not end up pollution waterways, harbors and beaches.
I support the development of Metropolitan Centers around transport hubs. I am concerned that many infill developments are not required to provide off street parking for all units, and this results in congested streets as cars are parked on the road. I support reducing the red tape without compromising construction quality.
I support the removal of noxious weeds, pest control, the Manukau Harbour Forum and better flood management. I do not support projects that do not deliver for ratepayers of based on ideology.
By providing the basics - continued free access to libraries, parks, sports grounds and swimming pools. Additionally, I will support funding grants for local organisations working in this space.
I want to see strong, vibrant communities and successful businesses. I will work with and support business associations and manufacturers to cut red tape and compliance costs, create employment and vibrant economies.
The median age of Manurewa's Māori residents is the youngest in Auckland. While I believe all residents should be treated equally, there is a need to support Tamariki, Rangatahi and their Whanau. I believe in a hand up and not a handout. I also believe in education, equipping people with skills, allowing people to contribute to their family, community and society is very desirable and will support these initiatives.
