Candidate for Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board (Tāmaki Subdivision)
C&R - Communities and Residents
I live in Mount Wellington with my husband and three sons, and I teach at Stanhope Road School. I hold a Master's degree in Business and bring strong leadership and commercial experience from my previous role as a General Manager. Through service on boards including Sport Auckland and the Mount Wellington Charitable Trust, I've gained valuable governance experience. I'm a local advocate, a Justice of the Peace, and a former Local Board Member with a deep commitment to community service and a strong understanding of how Council works. I will champion the voice of the community and put it at the centre of Council decisions. I'm committed to ensuring ratepayer money is spent wisely and transparently. I strongly support retaining weekly rubbish collections and ensuring ongoing investment in aging infrastructure, so community assets remain fit for purpose for generations to come. Vote Tabetha Elliott and C&R.
I’m committed to supporting families and strengthening community life across Maungakiekie-Tāmaki. That means keeping weekly rubbish collection to maintain clean, healthy streets, improving road safety so children can walk and cycle safely, and ensuring our parks and public spaces are safe, accessible, and family-friendly. I’m approachable, community-focused, and here to make sure local voices are heard and respected.
I bring strong governance and management experience, having served on several boards and previously worked as a General Manager, running businesses with a focus on people and performance. I’m a former local board member, a current Justice of the Peace, and hold a Master’s degree in Business. I also teach at a local school, keeping me connected to our community. As a mother of three, I understand the everyday pressures families and our community face.
-Keeping weekly rubbish collection to maintain clean, healthy neighbourhoods for families and communities. -Ensuring ongoing investment in infrastructure like roads, parks, and public spaces that support growing families and future generations. -Tight control on council spending to make sure ratepayer money is used wisely, with real value delivered to local households.
My priority is ensuring our transport network is safe, accessible, and works for everyone—whether you're driving, taking the bus, walking, or cycling. I support improvements to road safety, especially around schools and busy intersections, so our kids and families can move safely through our neighbourhoods. Public transport must remain reliable and affordable to be a real option for working families.
Auckland’s water must be managed carefully to ensure reliable supply and protect our environment. We need to invest in upgrading infrastructure for drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater while planning for growth and climate change. Improving stormwater systems is key to reducing flooding and pollution. I support practical solutions that prioritise water quality, conservation, and resilience for the health of our communities now and in the future.
Auckland’s growth must balance housing, infrastructure, and heritage protection. Development should occur in the right areas without compromising the city’s unique character. We need affordable, quality homes and infrastructure that keeps pace with growth. Protecting heritage sites is key to preserving our community’s identity and sense of place. I support smart, sustainable planning that respects both development needs and our valued heritage.
Protecting Auckland’s natural spaces is essential for our environment and communities. I support maintaining green areas, restoring native habitats, and improving waterways to boost biodiversity. Building climate resilience means upgrading infrastructure and promoting sustainable practices. Working with local communities, we can safeguard our natural heritage and create a healthier Auckland for future generations.
I will build strong communities by listening to residents and responding to their needs. I’ll work to improve local services and facilities, making them accessible and welcoming for all. Supporting programs for families and youth, increasing community spaces, and encouraging collaboration with local groups will boost wellbeing and connection. My goal is a safe, inclusive community where everyone feels valued and supported.
I aim to boost economic growth by supporting local businesses with resources, training, and backing our Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to strengthen collaboration. I support sustainable development that benefits both entrepreneurs and the community. Promoting our cultural heritage helps build community identity and attracts visitors. By celebrating diversity and fostering partnerships, we can create a vibrant economy that respects our history and supports future prosperity.
Delivering Māori outcomes means working in genuine partnership with Māori communities to support their aspirations, protect cultural sites, and ensure their voices guide decision-making. Managing the Port of Auckland requires balancing economic benefits with environmental protection and the wellbeing of local communities. Supporting storm recovery involves prioritising swift repairs, strengthening infrastructure to for future events, and providing ongoing support to help communities rebuild.
