I am answering the call from my community to stand for three positions in this years election, because of the wide spread dissatisfaction with our current elected representatives! Maungakiekie - Tāmaki has been my family's home for five generations, and I carry on the tradition of community service. I am currently in my second term as president of Grey Power Howick Pakuranga & Districts - president of Panmure Historical Society eight years - Chair Panmure Basin Advisory Committee six years and volunteer for the Mt Wellington Community Patrol New Zealand for the last three years! Please vote Patrick O'Meara three times for honesty, transparency and accountability - a vote you can trust. Patrick O'Meara
I am standing to be elected to my Local Board as my Community have asked me to stand because of the widespread dissatisfaction with the current representatives. I will return the Local Board Meeting return to Panmure Office, for proper Community consultation. Stop over spending on Vanity Projects.
Strong governance and Leadership and a recognised Community Stakeholder by our Local Board and Auckland Council. This is because of the many groups I chair and represent as well regularly attend Local Board Business Meetings and making submissions and deputations to the Council, and Local Board. I have first hand experience of how the Board is run and it's short comings. I will be available to my Community at all times.
Proper Community consultation and availability is a priority. Stopping Eke Panuku Panmure Unlocked until proper consultation with the Community takes place, so they can have their say, stop the Sale of the Kings Road Carpark. Returning the Panmure sign to it's proper place on the grassy knoll.
Proper consultation with the Community First. Cycle ways need to be trialed first to see if they are really required by the Community. Improve walkways example the McCulloch walkway around the Panmure Basin which is not suitable for cyclists. Better Bus routes to service the disabled and elderly who have been forgotten.
Urgent upgrade of infrastructure and suppling affordable water. Cleaning up our drains and cesspits and waterways. Stopping the pollution going down our drains and creating more ecological reserves, planting good native plants to help with the return of our native fish.
It's important to keep the heritage of the City as it adds character, and history. Urban development needs to have the infrastructure built first before development, and upgrading long neglected infrastructure which is causing the pollution.
As Above, Infrastructure must come first before we can restore Biodiversity. We can however focus on cleaning up our streams and waterways from pollution and start targeted monitoring of these streams and reserves. Keep engaged with the Community. Maintaining and improving sea walls, to stop erosion and sedimentation.
Grass Roots on the ground -community engagement events where the Community can prioritise local need and improvements.
Keep it Local supporting the Business and Business Association and listening to what they require. Our cultural heritage is under funded and requires more funding to keep the Heritage and History alive and relevant.
Ports of Auckland needs to move to Whangarei with the support of the Government upgraded Rail network. Storm recovery requires prioritising cleaning of the cesspits, drains and waterways. Before storm events.
