Candidate for Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board (Tāmaki Subdivision)
C&R - Communities and Residents
I'm proud to call Mt Wellington home, where I live with my wife and three boys. As a committed community advocate, I've played a key role in revitalising the Mount Wellington Residents Association, contributing to community patrols and clean-up efforts. My experience as an ex-Deputy Chair of the Local Board has given me valuable insight into how Auckland Council operates, I've continued to serve our community through governance roles in the not-for-profit sector. Currently, I serve as President of the Mount Wellington Licensing Trust. My background in business leadership spans award-winning ventures in telecommunications and fitness, bringing strong managerial expertise to the table. Over the past three years, I've led as CEO in the health sector, focusing on youth mental health; a growing challenge in our community. I'm standing for change grounded in service, experience, and a passion for building a stronger, safer Maungakiekie-Tāmaki. Vote Troy Elliott and C&R

Making sure we keep weekly rubbish collections. As a family of five we know how this potential change would affect families in our area. Investing in our parks and playgrounds. As an ex lead for local board on Parks and Recreation, I know how important these are for our community. Holding council officers responsible for spending of publics money. So many families are having to tighten their budgets, Council should be no different and the council officers need to be reminded of this.
We need to stop demonising car drivers. Whilst we often use public transport, we need to make sure we maintain our roads to a high level. We also need to ensure our public transport is reliable and on time.
After heavy rain in Auckland its not uncommon for our beaches to be closed due to unsafe water quality. This needs to be addressed urgently. We have had decades of underinvestment in water infrastructure and we need to continue to work with central government to fix this.
Aucklands heritage is one of its jewels, but unfortunately we have lost so much of our character over the years. Whilst we need to focus on building affordable housing in areas that are suited this should not be at the cost of losing our character housing.
We need to address our water issues so that our beaches are not polluted. We need to work with organisations like Eastern Songbird Project and others to work towards Predator Free 2050.
Connected communities are vital. Mount Wellington often feels that we are forgotten and we lack many facilities. It is important that we keep our libraries open as they are so much more than a book lending facility these days. Maungakiekie Tāmaki covers such a large and diverse area and we need to make sure that all parts of our Local Board area feel they are represented.
We need to work with town centres to encourage our residents to shop there. Whilst we have one of New Zealands largest malls in our area, its vitally important that we keep our mainstreet shops in Glen Innes, Panmure and Mount Wellington.
