Candidate for Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board (Papatoetoe Subdivision)
Papatoetoe-Otara Action Team
I've proudly called Papatoetoe home since the 1990s. Like many of you, I have raised a family here, worked hard to build a small business, and given back through years of local community service. I've helped deliver food and hygiene packs during tough times, supported our seniors, backed youth initiatives, and worked to make our streets cleaner and safer. I believe in old-fashioned values: honesty, fairness, and putting people before politics. I'm not here to make promises I can't keep: I'm here to listen, work hard, and make sure our neighborhood gets the attention and respect it deserves. This is my home too. I'm Local. Loyal. And Committed to serve. As a Papatoetoe Otara action candidate, Paramjeet wants to retain the weekly rubbish household collection for Public Health and cleanliness. Please vote for Paramjeet and every action candidate.
If elected, I will serve with honesty, transparency, and action. I’ll listen to residents, address concerns, and deliver practical solutions. My priorities are improving infrastructure, supporting small businesses, and creating opportunities for youth and families. I’ll ensure fair decisions through genuine consultation, always putting our community first.
I bring strong leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to integrity. My experience in business and community service has developed my skills in problem-solving and collaboration. I listen carefully, act fairly, and work hard to deliver positive outcomes. I am approachable and dedicated to making decisions that benefit the whole community.
My priorities are improving:- 1). INFRASTRUCTURE with safe roads, better transport, 2). Quality PUBLIC CONVENIENCE, (at the moment the area lacks these facilities) 3). Supporting SMALL BUSINESSES in the area to grow, create jobs and expanding opportunities for youth in education, work, and recreation. These goals will enhance quality of life, boost our economy, and build a stronger, more connected community.
I will prioritise safer, well-maintained roads, better traffic flow, and improved public transport options that are reliable and affordable. I support expanding safe walking and cycling paths to connect neighbourhoods, reduce congestion, and promote healthier travel choices for all residents.
I support securing a sustainable water supply, maintaining high drinking water quality, and upgrading stormwater and wastewater systems to prevent flooding and pollution. Careful planning and investment are essential to safeguard our environment for future generations. Increasing in housing development in the area is pressurizing a need to ensure sufficient planning is done with the Services to ensure the current infrastructure able to sustain growth.
I support balanced urban development that delivers quality, affordable housing while protecting our heritage and green spaces. Investment in infrastructure must keep pace with growth, ensuring safe roads, efficient transport, and resilient utilities. Development should strengthen communities and reflect Auckland’s unique character. A need for further facilities are to be kept in mind for the impact of new residents moving into the area.
I will work to protect and restore our parks, waterways, and native habitats, while supporting biodiversity through planting and pest control. I support climate-resilient planning, renewable energy, and waste reduction initiatives to ensure Auckland’s natural environment thrives for future generations. Accountability must rest with all stakeholders to ensure all natural spaces are preserved while developements take place.
I will support inclusive events, sports, arts, and cultural activities that bring people together. I’ll advocate for safe, accessible community facilities, improved local services, and programmes that promote health, education, and wellbeing. Strong connections create a safer, more supportive community for all.
I will champion local businesses through training, networking, and reduced barriers to growth, creating more jobs for locals. I’ll promote our diverse cultural heritage through events, tourism, and creative industries, ensuring economic growth goes hand in hand with celebrating and preserving our community’s unique identity. Distributions of funding and grants for community projects to be used wisely.
I will strengthen partnerships with Māori to deliver shared priorities in housing, employment, environment, and cultural heritage.
