  • Joe BERGIN

    Joe BERGIN

Portage Licensing Trust (Ward No. 3 - Glen Eden)

    Trusts Action Group

    Candidate statement

West Auckland deserves a licensing trust that puts community first. As a current trustee, lawyer and community advocate I’m standing with the Trusts Action Group to give you the opportunity to finally have a say on the monopoly that’s limited choice and held back small businesses and ultimately fails to provide decent returns to the community. The Trusts could be far more efficient and profitable if West Auckland was opened up to fair competition and local choice. We deserve vibrant, thriving venues that reflect the changing needs of our neighbourhoods, while also ensuring alcohol is sold responsibly and more given back to the community. I’m committed to greater transparency, better decision-making, and a Trust that delivers real value. Let’s give West Auckland the right to choose something better.

  • Ellie CALLAHAN

    Ellie CALLAHAN

Portage Licensing Trust (Ward No. 3 - Glen Eden)

    Trusts Action Group

    Candidate statement

Hi Im Ellie. I am a mum of two, a freelance Producer and an enthusiastic member of our local school’s fundraising committee. My whānau loves living in West Auckland — it’s a vibrant, diverse community full of heart. But like many locals, I believe it’s time for change. The Licensing Trusts are no longer fit for purpose. Too much money is tied up in a model that isn’t working, and pokie machines continue to cause harm in our communities. I'm standing with the Trust Action group to push for more transparency, more accountability, and a better deal for West Auckland. It’s time the Trusts gave more back — not just in words, but in real, tangible support for the people who live here. Let’s rethink what’s possible for our community, together.

  • Michelle HUTTON

    Michelle HUTTON

Portage Licensing Trust (Ward No. 3 - Glen Eden)

    Future West

    Candidate statement

I’m a proud Westie, experienced local leader, and passionate advocate for strong, connected communities. I believe in local decision-making that’s community-driven, focused on delivering real benefits across West Auckland. I have a strong commercial background, with experience in science, manufacturing, and education, including research, capital projects, product development, and leading specialist teams, alongside 15 years of governance experience in the not-for-profit sector. I believe the Trust can be a thriving, community-owned business and a powerful force for good in the West. It plays a vital role in ensuring alcohol is sold responsibly, while supporting our schools, clubs, community services, arts, and more. I’ll focus on growing community investment, building strong partnerships to offer more vibrant venue options, and finding smart improvements across the Trust’s operations. The Trust belongs to us - let’s back it, grow it, and ensure it delivers for the whole community. Vote Michelle Hutton and Future West.

  • Morgan LUXTON

    Morgan LUXTON

Portage Licensing Trust (Ward No. 3 - Glen Eden)

    Candidate statement

I live in Glen Eden, a local small business owner. I believe the Trusts should be maintained with the profits staying in our community not given away to supermarkets or being reinvested in other areas Priority should be firstly to give back to the community. We deserve better than what is currently being delivered. My priorities are; Easier restrictions allowing more quality local bars and licensed eateries; Updating restrictions that have been imposed for too long and are outdated; Immediatey increasing the return and benefits to our community; Sensible operational spending and a remuneration and cost review of senior executive pay.

  • Rashi PARKER

    Rashi PARKER

Portage Licensing Trust (Ward No. 3 - Glen Eden)

    Future West

    Candidate statement

Kia ora, I seek your Portage Licensing Trust vote, to grow support for the community-groups and schools that champion our area. My young family has called Glen Eden home for 11 years. During this time, I've connected with many locals, taking action for the environment and each other. I support lively, family-friendly venues and responsible retail; returning more profits to youth, social and environmental initiatives. I have a proven track-record of leadership, collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making. A researcher and educator (PhD Neuroscience, Auckland Uni), I now advocate for local charities: BirdCare Aotearoa and West Auckland Community Toy Library. I serve on the Kate Edger Foundation governing board, a social enterprise empowering women to pursue higher education. Glen Eden needs an energetic voice. With Future West, I will advocate for thoughtful solutions and phasing-out pokies, to minimise harm while strengthening community-led actions. Together, let's nurture a safe and thriving Glen Eden.
