Candidate for Puketāpapa Local Board
C&R - Communities and Residents
Community is at my heart. As your board deputy chair, I've worked to amplify voices and deliver real results; securing shade sails for playgrounds, benches in parks, reducing alcohol harm, and advocating for upgrades like the Dominion/Denbigh roundabout and weekly rubbish collection. As a pharmacist, I bring frontline insight to governance. I co-founded ARK (Acts of Roskill Kindness), which stepped up during the Anniversary and Easter floods; delivering urgent medical care, food, shelter, and coordination with Council and community. I'll continue to push for safe, vibrant neighbourhoods, better infrastructure, protection of green spaces, cultural diversity, connected communities, and value for money from our rates. I'm committed to health, equity, and inclusion in every decision. Puketāpapa is home; where my husband and I are raising our daughter. I'm a proud Roskill schools graduate, serve on the Roskill Primary Board, and was church youth leader. Vote Fiona Lai and C&R.
I’m standing for re-election because Puketāpapa is my home. I want to keep building a safer, more connected, and inclusive community. As a pharmacist and community leader, I bring real-life experience and care. I’ll keep fighting for better infrastructure, greener spaces, value for your rates and to retain weekly rubbish collection. I love where we live and I’m committed to helping our neighbourhoods thrive.
I’ve lived in Puketāpapa most of my life and know the community well. As a pharmacist, I bring public health expertise, particularly in reducing alcohol-related harm. I co-founded ARK and was a key link between Council and the community during the Anniversary and Easter floods. With experience on the Mt Roskill Primary Board, I bring strategic thinking and a commitment to future generations. I proudly embrace and celebrate our cultural diversity.
1. RATES: Fighting for better value from our rates – Ratepayers deserve efficient, transparent use of funds that deliver real benefits to the community. 2. ROADS: Improving roads and accessibility – Safer, well-maintained roads and better access are essential for all, especially families and the elderly. 3. RUBBISH: Keeping weekly rubbish collection. This is a core service that protects public health, prevents illegal dumping, and keeps our streets clean.
