Candidate for Waitākere Ranges Local Board
My name is Iuliana Rodinciuc, and I am proud to stand for the Waitākere Ranges Local Board. I have been a New Zealand resident for 21 years, living in the same beautiful home in our community for 14 years. I hold three academic degrees, including a Master’s in Education from the University of Auckland, and bring both knowledge and dedication to supporting the growth and wellbeing of our local area. As a business owner and a registered, qualified teacher, I understand first-hand the challenges and achievements of running a business in New Zealand. I am passionate about supporting families, especially new and immigrant families like my own, ensuring that both children and adults have access to opportunities to thrive through education. I am committed to serving our community with empathy, integrity, and practical solutions, helping the Waitākere Ranges remain a place where every family feels supported and connected.
I know the value of hard work, every dollar earned, every choice that matters. Our community deserves safe streets, thriving local businesses, and schools that compete with the best. After 20+ years living and working here, I bring real-world business sense, education expertise, and commitment. Why settle for politics that waste time and money? It’s time for a fresh, people-first approach that delivers results we can see. I am your person.
Strong decision-making – because aren’t you tired of wasting time and resources when it’s time to act? Clear communication – because don’t you want straight answers instead of confusion? Proven problem-solver in education and business – because shouldn’t experience guide the solutions we choose? Fast to act – because how long should our community wait for real change? Relatable – because I know how to listen through the noise. I am my own person but I am not afraid to be yours either.
Protecting our environment – because if we lose our forests to kauri dieback, what legacy will we leave? Improving safety and transport – because everyone deserves safe roads and transport, especially near schools. Strengthening our community – because when we connect people, support local businesses, and plan smart infrastructure, we all thrive. The Waitākere Ranges deserve action. For someone to speak up, listen well, and get it done — I am your person.
I’ll push for safer, smarter transport links across Waitākere Ranges—well-lit roads, secure crossings, and traffic calming where needed. Reliable public transport must feel safe day and night, with better connections to key hubs. Cycling and walking paths should be well-maintained, visible, and accessible, encouraging active travel without fear. Our community deserves transport options that protect lives, cut congestion, and keep us moving safely.
We must safeguard Auckland’s water with a balanced, future-focused approach—protecting supply, ensuring top-quality drinking water, and upgrading stormwater and wastewater systems to reduce flooding and pollution. Investment in resilient infrastructure, smart water use, and environmental protection will secure resources for growth while respecting ratepayer costs. Collaboration with communities and experts will ensure solutions are practical, sustainable, and fair.
Auckland’s growth must balance housing supply, infrastructure investment, and heritage protection. We need well-planned urban development that delivers quality, affordable homes, supported by efficient transport, water, and community facilities. Protecting our heritage sites and green spaces is essential to maintaining character. Collaboration between council, developers, and communities will ensure growth is sustainable, liveable, and respectful of our city’s unique identity.
We must protect Waitākere’s unique natural environment through strong conservation, smart planning, and community action. This means restoring native habitats, controlling pests, and safeguarding waterways. Expanding tree cover and wetland protection will boost biodiversity and absorb carbon. Climate resilience requires investment in flood management, erosion control, and sustainable land use. Partnering with mana whenua and locals will ensure our environment thrives for future generations.
I’ll focus on safe, inclusive spaces where people feel connected and supported. This means investing in well-maintained parks, libraries, and community hubs, expanding youth and senior programmes, and improving access to local services. Strong partnerships with local groups, schools, and businesses will strengthen networks. By bringing in cultural events, and neighbourhood safety initiatives, we can build a Waitākere where wellbeing, belonging, and opportunity are shared by all.
I envision a Waitākere economy that grows sustainably by backing local businesses of all sizes and sectors, encouraging innovation, and attracting investment that creates quality jobs. Supporting markets, tourism, and creative industries will boost visibility and income. Protecting and promoting our cultural heritage—through events, storytelling, and partnerships with mana whenua—will strengthen identity and pride. A balanced approach ensures all voices are represented and prosperity is shared.
I support a pragmatic approach that delivers genuine outcomes for Māori through partnership with mana whenua, investment in cultural initiatives, and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Port of Auckland should be managed for both economic return and environmental responsibility. Growing the Auckland Future Fund requires prudent investment to benefit all ratepayers. Storm recovery must focus on resilient infrastructure, community readiness, and fair resource allocation to protect our future.
