Candidate statement

I am proud to have been nominated as your city councillor. I stand firmly behind our mayor and will support any initiative that helps reduce excessive spending and deliver better value for ratepayers. With over 30 years of hands-on experience in facilities and infrastructure management, I know where efficiencies can be found - and where unnecessary costs can be cut. I'll work hard to ensure council officials are held to account, reduce red tape, and free up the bureaucracy that's slowing real progress. Safer communities, smarter spending, and honest leadership - that's my commitment to you.

Why I want to be elected

I want to make a difference to real people (rate payers), I'm not a career councillor or a career politician. I'm just a normal person looking for change in the way council conducts its business. I believe in being voted in by the people and acting for the people. I stand firmly behind our mayor and will support any initiative that helps reduce excessive spending and deliver better value for ratepayers. I would like to bring people back to the city and make the CBD vibrant again.

My key skills and qualities

With over 30 years of hands on experience in facilities and infrastructure management, I know where efficiencies can be found, and where unnecessary costs can be cut. In the past I have run and facilitated works for the Council on their Council contracts and I am well versed in what is needed to save money and reduce needless spending. I'm well known for my consideration and care in considering the views of the people and their needs

My top three key issues

1. Lack of vibrancy and activity in the inner city The CBD is experiencing a decline in foot traffic and has reached a stage of stagnation, with many local businesses struggling or closing up shop. I am proposing free parking for those coming to the city from 6pm to 6am Monday to Friday and free parking weekends. 2. Safety and Security in the inner city. The perception of safety is crucial for attracting people back to the city centre 3. Infrastructure challenges Speed up planning and consents
