Governance, Leadership, Community Advocacy I've previously been rated the most effective Waitematā Local Board member. Quality Governance: the Waitematā Local Board spends $7mil+ on capex - renewing & developing our assets, $36mil+ on opex - maintaining & operating these assets and delivering local activities. This spending need strategic oversight. Listening to You: In my time on the Waitematā Local Board, I have been appalled at the lack on quality engagement with the community we are elected to serve. Supporting Local Business: their views have been disregarded for too long now, it's time that stopped.

With $29 for every $100 of your rates is spent on Community. Quality governance needs to be at the heart of every decision. There needs to be a significant increase in the due diligence of the spend in this portfolio. We must address the issue of homelessness across Auckland.
I believe there should be more focus on economic development of the region and support to small businesses impacted by transport projects and the City Centre Master Plan. Before I support any project that impacts business, I advocate for ensuring the staff proposing it as a good idea hear first had the devastation projects can cause to a business, their staff and a community it supports. I support continuing Auckland's large cultural events, including Pasifika, Diwali and the Lantern Festival.
I'm currently the Waitemata Local Board representative on the Ports of Auckland CRG. I have high regard for the way POAL is run. I believe Auckland needs to be much more responsive to the opportunities that the cruise industry brings On prayers before and at the end of Council meetings, no one tells me when or how to pray. However, I am supportive and respectful of those who wish to participate in prayer and the beginning and end of meetings
