I am standing for election to use my skills and experience to contribute to making Auckland a better place to live. I believe Waitematā needs leadership committed to its progress, prosperity and promise to be a place residents can genuinely call home. I am committed to a safe and inclusive city with a vibrant local culture, a healthy environment, a thriving economy, affordable housing, and a range of transport choices. I am an experienced board member, law tutor and community worker, and already have a strong track record of successfully working inside council, and with the community, as a member of the Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel. I have the freshness, vision, innovation, new energy and collaborative approach that Waitematā needs, and will be accessible and available to you as an effective and committed community representative. Vote for me and the effective City Vision team for a better future for Waitematā.
I want to be elected to make Auckland a better place to live, with an inclusive, connected, and vibrant Waitematā. If elected, I will focus on safer communities, affordable housing, vibrant local culture, sustainable transport, and a healthy environment. I will champion a thriving local economy, decisive climate action, and welcoming and safe public spaces that bring people together. I will be available, accessible, responsive, and a committed advocate for our community and its future.
I have experience across not-for-profit, local government, and public sectors, giving me an agile and balanced perspective. I have served on several boards, chair an employment advocacy trust, and am a member of the Council’s Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel. I have taught law, including commercial law, at the University of Auckland and work as a disability advocate. I will work collaboratively, and bring innovation, fresh ideas, and practical solutions to the challenges facing Waitematā.
Housing – affordable, accessible, fit-for-purpose homes for everyone, supported by smarter, high-quality urban development. Everyone deserves a decent place to call home. Economy – a thriving sustainable local economy and a vibrant culture that reflects our community. Small businesses are at the heart of our neighbourhoods and our communities. Transport – genuine, reliable, and accessible choices that work so every Waitematā resident can get where they need to go quickly and efficiently.
My priorities are to create an integrated, efficient, sustainable transport network that works for everyone. I will support reducing congestion to make journeys faster, safer roads, well-connected cycleways, and accessible footpaths that make walking easy and safe. I will champion reliable, frequent, and affordable public transport so that people have real alternatives to cars. My goal is to deliver transport innovation and genuine transport choice, to improve safety, and to cut emissions.
Auckland’s water must be managed as a vital resource. I support protecting our water supply through sustainable use and future-focused investment. We need to improve water quality in our harbours and waterways, make sure our beaches are clean, upgrade stormwater systems to reduce flooding, and ensure wastewater is treated safely. Better planning and smarter investment are essential to secure clean, reliable water and environmental improvements for future generations.
Auckland needs smarter urban development that delivers affordable, accessible, and sustainable housing while also protecting our unique heritage. I support high-quality, well-planned growth supported by resilient infrastructure and efficient public transport, and safe streets and public spaces designed for people. Homes should meet people’s needs and create vibrant, connected communities. At the same time, heritage buildings and places must be respected and preserved for future generations.
Auckland’s natural spaces are important for our wellbeing and our identity. I will support protecting and restoring biodiversity through native planting, pest control, and strong environmental protections. Parks, beaches, and public open spaces must be accessible, clean, safe, and well cared for. Building climate resilience means smarter planning, greener infrastructure, and decisive action to cut emissions while protecting and improving our natural environment for future generations.
Inclusive spaces, accessible services, and genuine engagement are the foundations of strong communities. I will support investment in community infrastructure, including libraries, parks, swimming pools, community centres, and meeting spaces, as well as sports, arts, and cultural facilities. Local services must be responsive and easy to access. I will support volunteers and groups to build sustainable communities, strengthen connections, and improve community wellbeing across Waitematā.
My vision is for economic development initiatives that create employment, support local businesses, and grow opportunity across Waitematā. I believe that a sustainable economy is a key feature of a sustainable community, strengthened through efficient planning and reliable infrastructure. I will drive economic growth by supporting events, innovation, and the visitor sector, and by valuing and promoting our cultural heritage as part of a resilient, inclusive, forward-looking future.
Delivering Māori outcomes requires genuine partnership with mana whenua to support equity, culture, and opportunity. The Port of Auckland must remain in public ownership, deliver commercial outcomes, support our economy, and pay dividends to keep rates down. The Auckland Future Fund needs a long-term plan to protect and grow value through smart investment and be a resource in emergencies. Investing in resilient infrastructure and climate adaptation will prepare communities for future challenges.
