Final determination on Auckland Council’s representation arrangements for the 2025 local elections

Closing date and time: 10 October 2025, 11.55 p.m.

On 14 March 2025, the Local Government Commission (LGC) issued its final decision on Auckland Council’s representation arrangements for the 2025 local elections. This follows a formal review process, public consultation and consideration of appeals and objections.

The final determination (decision) confirms how elected members will represent Aucklanders in local elections. This includes:

• the number of councillors
• the number of wards, their names and boundaries
• the number of local board members
• the names of local boards
• subdivision Smaller geographical area within a local board. arrangements for local boards, if applicable.

These arrangements will apply to the 2025 elections to ensure fair and effective representation across the region.
