Notice of new election, calling for nominations and inspection of electoral roll

Papatoetoe Subdivision of Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board
Following the voiding of the Papatoetoe Subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board election held on 11 October 2025, the District Court has directed that a new election be held.
Under section 102 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the new election for the Papatoetoe Subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board will occur on Thursday 9 April 2026, by postal vote using the First Past the Post electoral system for the following:
- election of four (4) members for the Papatoetoe Subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board.
Candidate names will be listed in alphabetical order on the voting documents.
Nominations
Nominations are now open and close at 12 noon, Wednesday 28 January 2026.
Each candidate must be nominated on an official nomination paper available in the above period:
- electronically at: esp.electionservices.co.nz/papatoetoe
- obtaining a hardcopy from the Papatoetoe War Memorial Library, 30 Wallace Road, Papatoetoe, or the Manukau Library, 3 Osterley Way, Manukau during normal business hours or the electoral office, Level 2, 198 Federal Street, Auckland Central (from 14 January 2026)
- accessing: voteauckland.co.nz.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 GST inclusive (payable by bank transfer, EFTPOS or cash). Online nominations require proof of the deposit to be uploaded as part of the submission.
A candidate may submit a candidate profile statement with their nomination paper for sending out with the voting documents to electors.

Electoral roll
The electoral roll to be used for this election must be the same electoral roll as used for the 11 October 2025 election (section 102(3) Local Electoral Act 2001). No changes can therefore be made to this but the electoral roll can be inspected between 31 December 2025 and 28 January 2026 at the Papatoetoe War Memorial Library, 30 Wallace Road, Papatoetoe or the Manukau Library, 3 Osterley Way, Manukau or the electoral office, Level 2, 198 Federal Street, Auckland Central (from 14 January 2026).
