My principal place of residence is in the Franklin Local Board (Wairoa Subdivision) area.
My name is Clare Alder. I’m a local business owner, entrepreneur and mum of two, and I’ve lived in the Wairoa area for more than 18 years.
I understand the needs of our rural and lifestyle communities because I’ve lived them. I’m committed to representing Wairoa with practical, common-sense solutions that reflect what matters most to our community.
I bring strong business and leadership experience, and I’ve always believed in getting involved. Through local sports, business networks, and advocating on community issues.
I’m passionate about supporting families, strengthening small businesses, and ensuring growth protects Wairoa’s rural character through practical, community-focused outcomes.
My name is Clare Alder & I'm a local business owner, mum of two, & have lived in the Wairoa area for more than 18 years. I understand the needs of our rural & lifestyle communities because I've lived in them. I'm passionate about supporting families, strengthening small businesses, & ensuring growth protects Wairoa's rural character through community-focused outcomes. I am excited about empowering the Wairoa community to come together through small and large actions – they all make a difference
I’ve been involved in business & community work for some time. I co-founded a Home-Based ECE service which grew into one of Auckland's top providers. That involved working closely with families from all sorts of backgrounds, dealing with governance, compliance & the real-world challenges families face. On the community side, I actively advocated on behalf of neighbours regarding development at Ardmore Airport & supported the local kids to present their case to the Wairoa Board for a playground.
1) Growth & development: Areas are changing quickly & if not handled well, communities are pushed aside - I am focused on making sure development works for locals. 2) Transport: Local Boards are about to be given more transport-related decision-making powers.I will make sure items like road maintenance & drains/vegetation clearing is given more attention - safety is a real concern. 3) Small business: Running a business locally, I know how tough it can be.We need to ensure Wairoa businesses grow!
