My principal place of residence is in the Franklin Local Board (Wairoa Subdivision) area.
Greetings to all Wairoa voters. Urban intensification is threatening the character and quality of life in our local communities. Roading pressure and landfill proposals are constant concerns. Medical and Educational services are not keeping pace with growth. Wairoa needs a strong and independent voice on the local board to tackle the challenges that we face. My previous time on Community Boards and Licensing Trusts equip me with the skills and experience to be this voice. Thirteen years as a college principal in Franklin have also given me relationships with council, community and business leaders. As a Wairoa resident, I have my heart in the interests of our wider community. I am motivated, qualified and ready to navigate the council bureaucracy that so often frustrates residents - and ready to stand up to the national and global agendas that can often override local concerns. To have your voice heard Tick Tom.
I am Wairoa local with previous experience on elected boards and in working with youth and the environment. My work and interest in outdoor education saw me spend a lot of time in the Hunuas and on the Pohutukawa Coast. I love the area and am motivated to contribute to its future. If elected I want to help preserve the special character and environment of our area and manage the growth challenges we face. I will listen to locals and use my voice on the Local Board to advocate effectively.
My strength and experience in Leadership began in sport, was developed as a territorial Army officer, and polished during an education career which culminated in 13 years as Principal. I have the ability to effectively process information and quickly identify key facts and ideas. Listening, consulting and collaborative decision making are key qualities which I have built up. And independence from any political affiliation or group means I can speak out loudly and strongly where it is required.
Plan Change 120 flood Zone and coastal risk data is being recorded on the LIM records of many Wairoa properties including mine. This will have a flow on impact on property values, insurance costs and future development of our properties. This is a huge issue to be challenged. Auckland growth requiring landfills in our rural space is also a threat we must stand against. And urban intensification of our coastal areas must come with roading and infrastructure to match.
