Candidate for Albert-Eden Local Board (Maungawhau Subdivision)
C&R - Communities and Residents
A Local Voice. A Personal Commitment. Albert-Eden is home; it's where my wife and I are raising our children, drawn to Greenlane's friendly spirit and easy to parks, schools, and transport. I'm running again for the Maungawhau subdivision, driven by a passion to enhance our community. As an Electronics Engineer and MBA graduate, I bring real-world experience solving complex infrastructure challenges for government and business. I know how to deliver smart, practical solutions; even with limited resources. Since being elected in 2022, I've worked hard for balanced growth, better transport on busy routes like Dominion Road, and fairer Council rates. I'm committed to a safer, greener, and more connected community - with services that truly reflect your needs. You deserve a Council that listens and acts. I'll continue using sound judgment and open communication to represent you well. Vote Jack Tan and all C&R for a community that thrives, together.

Roads - We will promote sensible transport solutions. Rates – Deliver more value for your money and keep Rates low. Rubbish – Retain your weekly rubbish collection.
Prioritise road maintenance and footpaths, efficient public transport with more frequent buses, and sensible placement of cycling lanes where they are needed. Promote walkable neighborhoods with better pedestrian infrastructure. Invest in integrated transport solutions to reduce congestion, ensuring accessibility for all Aucklanders.
Ensure sustainable water management by upgrading aging infrastructure, improving stormwater systems, and protecting water quality. Support innovative wastewater treatment and rainwater harvesting to secure supply and enhance resilience against unforeseen events. Prioritise upgrading of aged water infrastructure so as to minimise the impact of storm events and to primarily insure we have an ability to grow should we need to.
Support smart urban planning with new housing but also to ensure we retain the character of Auckland, modern infrastructure, and heritage preservation. Encourage careful development near transport hubs while protecting historic sites to balance growth with Auckland’s unique character. The best thing we can do for Auckland today is to ensure underground infrastructure and transport options are well planned in advance of any intensification.
Albert Eden has a deficit in useful open spaces and we must protect green spaces and enhance biodiversity through reforestation and pest control. We must implement measures to safeguard Auckland’s natural beauty for future generations.
Foster vibrant communities by improving local facilities, parks, and community centers. Support grassroots sports and new initiatives, enhance safety, boost wellbeing and connection across Auckland neighborhood suburbs within Albert Eden and beyond.
Drive economic growth by supporting small businesses, Business Improvement Districts and minimising regulations. Promote cultural heritage and a sense of belonging through festivals, arts funding, and preserving historic sites to celebrate Auckland’s unique character and boost tourism.
My vision centers on transparent governance, efficient resource allocation, and community-driven outcomes. Resources will be allocated strategically, prioritising high-impact projects like maintenance of our very old assets and infrastructure upgrades. Robust outcomes will be achieved by engaging residents, ensuring their voices shape policies and services. I will focus on cutting wasteful spending. We’ll deliver resilient, sustainable solutions that benefit all Aucklanders.
