I’m a proud 26-year local resident, parent, and candidate running to bring practical and rational leadership back to Council. With a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Physics, I’ve worked as a software developer, small business owner, and real estate agent. I understand the real-world pressures facing families, homeowners, and small businesses. My Action Plan is grounded in common sense: End Wasteful Spending; Eliminate vanity projects; Require cost-benefit analysis before spending public money; Lower Rates. Focus on Core Services; Deliver better services with smarter spending and tighter budgets; Improve Traffic. Remove AT’s unrealistic 'Vision Zero' policy; End excessive traffic-calming; Focus on maintenance, safety, and traffic flow; Scrap Pointless Emissions Targets. Focus on Climate Adaptation; Ditch costly ideology-driven targets; Invest in stormwater management, and resilience. Vote Paul Sun. Rational Approach, Independent Voice, Local Focus.
I want to 1. Cut Wasteful Spending -- Eliminate vanity projects, Focus on Core Services, Cut the bureaucracy and improve efficiency. 2. Improve Traffic – End excessive traffic-calming and AT’s unrealistic “Vision Zero” policy. Focus on maintenance, safety, and traffic flow. 3. Scrap Pointless Emissions Targets – Focus on Climate Adaptation 4. Fix chaotic urban development — support controlled intensification
I hold two Bachelor of Science degrees — in Computer Science and Physics — which have equipped me with strong scientific reasoning and analytical skills. I take a strategic approach to problem-solving, breaking complex challenges into smaller, more manageable parts to achieve practical solutions. I value independent thinking and have the courage to speak the truth, even when it’s unpopular.
1. Wasteful Spending – I’ve seen many vanity projects and repeated budget blowouts, such as the City Rail Link. We cannot afford new infrastructure unless we improve efficiency and spending discipline. 2. Fix Traffic – End excessive traffic-calming measures and AT’s unrealistic “Vision Zero” policy. These are ideology-driven, not data-driven, and they’re choking our city’s mobility and productivity. 3. Scrap Pointless Emissions Targets – redirect that funding into practical climate adaptation.
I will prioritize fixing existing roads, improving traffic flow, and ending costly, ineffective measures like AT’s “Vision Zero” that slow our city. Public transport must be reliable, efficient, and cost-effective. Cycling and walking projects should be targeted where demand exists, not imposed citywide. Every transport dollar must deliver real value, focusing on safety, congestion relief, and practical infrastructure upgrades.
I will focus on maintaining a reliable, affordable water supply while protecting quality. Stormwater and wastewater systems must be upgraded to prevent flooding and environmental damage, prioritizing high-risk areas. Funding should go to practical climate adaptation—like drainage improvements—rather than symbolic emissions targets. Every project must deliver clear benefits, be cost-effective, and avoid wasteful spending.
I support well-planned, controlled intensification around transport hubs while protecting the character of established suburbs. Urban development must be matched with timely infrastructure upgrades—roads, drainage, and community facilities—to avoid overloading services. I oppose wasteful spending on ideological projects and will prioritize practical, cost-effective solutions. Heritage buildings and neighbourhood character should be preserved as part of balanced, sustainable growth.
I will protect Auckland’s natural spaces by ensuring funding goes to practical environmental management, not costly ideology. Focus will be on restoring waterways, improving stormwater systems, and preventing flooding to build real climate resilience. Native planting and habitat restoration should target biodiversity hotspots. Parks and green spaces must be maintained for community use, while balancing conservation with accessibility.
I will work to make local boards a true voice for residents, not a rubber stamp. This means listening directly to communities, supporting grassroots initiatives, and ensuring council spending delivers visible benefits. I’ll prioritize maintaining and upgrading local facilities, parks, and libraries, and back events that bring people together. Reducing red tape for community projects and supporting local businesses will strengthen connections and improve overall wellbeing.
I will cut red tape and reduce compliance costs so local businesses can thrive, creating jobs and boosting economic growth. Council should work with, not against, entrepreneurs. I’ll promote Auckland’s cultural heritage by protecting historic sites, supporting cultural festivals, and encouraging tourism. I’ll also create more parking spaces in business areas to support local commerce and make it easier for customers to shop, dine, and enjoy our city’s attractions.
I will ensure Māori outcomes are delivered through genuine collaboration, focusing on practical projects that benefit all Aucklanders. The Port of Auckland should operate efficiently, return strong dividends. The Auckland Future Fund must be invested wisely to grow long-term returns without risking capital. For storm recovery, I’ll prioritize rebuilding resilient infrastructure, upgrading drainage, and protecting vulnerable communities over spending on symbolic climate targets.
