Waiuku is home for my family and me. As your Franklin Local Board member, I understand the importance of experienced, practical, and enthusiastic representation. My nine years as a City Councillor and subsequent local board service provide a clear understanding of how local government works and how to get things done for Waiuku. I am not afraid to actively speak out and stand up for our community's issues, and I am deeply enthusiastic about preserving Waiuku's special qualities. I've consistently challenged AT's costly projects, advocated for essential infrastructure before development, a sensible solution for mangrove removal and intensified calls for fair water quality for Waiuku. I champion fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability in council spending, ensuring your rates deliver value. I promise to continue dedicated leadership, actively listening to your concerns, and working tirelessly for a stronger, more prosperous Waiuku. It would be my privilege to continue serving you.
Waiuku is my home. I want to continue serving you as your Franklin Local Board member. My experience as a City Councillor and my time on the Local Board give me a clear understanding of how to get things done. I'm committed to being a strong, vocal advocate for our community and working relentlessly for a stronger, more prosperous Waiuku. I will champion fiscal responsibility and accountability. It would be my privilege to continue serving you with dedicated and responsive leadership.
With nine years as a City Councillor and multiple terms on the Local Board, I have a deep understanding of how local government functions and how to effectively advocate for our community. I've chaired major hearings and served on key bodies, giving me the insight to navigate complex issues effectively. As a local resident, I have a direct feel for Waiuku's challenges. My commitment is to provide leadership and accountability, always listening and acting on behalf of our community.
Water Quality: Pushing Watercare to implement water softening treatment to ensure fair and equal service for Waiuku residents who currently bear the financial burden. Infrastructure & Development: Advocating for infrastructure to be in place before development to support our community's future growth & prevent strain on existing services. Transport: Challenging costly Auckland Transport projects and demanding accountability for fiscally responsible solutions that benefit our community's need
I've consistently challenged Auckland Transport's costly projects, advocating for fiscally responsible alternatives. My core principle is that infrastructure must precede development. This means ensuring our roads and transport networks are ready for future growth before new homes are built. I will continue to demand accountability from Auckland Transport for delivering value and addressing the specific road issues in Waiuku and the surrounding rural areas.
Fairness for Waiuku residents is my priority. The hard water issue has seen me push Watercare for a solution. Despite a recent upgrade, water softening was excluded. I will continue to push for the treatment to be implemented, ensuring we receive the same quality of service as other parts of Auckland and easing the financial burden on residents. Additionally, I believe proper stormwater and wastewater management must be a core part of new housing and infrastructure developments.
My belief is that infrastructure must precede development. I consistently advocate for sufficient roads, water, and wastewater capacity before new housing is approved. I am committed to pursuing proactive investment in these vital systems so they are ready for future growth. While growth is important, it must be managed to preserve our unique character and protect our heritage and historic buildings.
I am a staunch advocate for the Waiuku Estuary Restoration Trust, the Mudlarks. I successfully championed the transfer of their mangrove removal consent, a pivotal step that safeguards years of volunteer effort. This collaborative breakthrough ensures a healthier estuary for future generations. I will continue to support such community-led initiatives that enhance our natural spaces and biodiversity. These initiatives are key to building climate resilience for our community.
A strong community is built on communication, collaboration, and responsive leadership. I am dedicated to actively listening to your concerns and ensuring your voice is acted upon. I'm committed to providing leadership, accountability, and responsiveness to the community. I have a history of achieving positive results and will continue to work to improve local services and facilities.
My vision is centered on supporting local businesses and preserving our town's special qualities. I will continue to advocate for policies and infrastructure that help local commerce thrive. Our cultural heritage makes Waiuku unique, and I'm enthusiastic about preserving it. I will support initiatives that promote our history and ensure our town retains its distinctive identity as it grows.
I champion fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability in council spending. A well-managed local government works efficiently and effectively for all its residents. I am committed to working collaboratively to deliver positive outcomes for Māori within our community, recognizing the importance of partnership and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi. I will continue to advocate for transparent, beneficial decision-making.
