Franklin Local Board (Waiuku Subdivision)
Rock The Vote NZ
Candidate statement
Since moving to Waiuku in 2019 I have watched Council inefficiency burden and frustrate local ratepayers and families. At 30 years of age, armed with a Master of Business and extensive IT experience, I have decided to put my hand up, driven by a genuine commitment to serve the community. I am standing for Rock The Vote NZ, and together we believe in common-sense policy, transparency, and practical solutions. Once elected, I will advocate on the public's behalf to push for a rates rise cap to the rate of inflation, as I believe Council must spend within its means. I will audit Local Board spending line by line, voting to eliminate waste and ensuring funds are used to make our roads safer, our parks cleaner and putting funds towards community projects that can truly make a difference. Tick Daymond Goulder-Horobin to back Waiuku.
Franklin Local Board (Waiuku Subdivision)
Team Franklin
Candidate statement
Waiuku deserves a thriving future, and I’m ready to deliver it. On my coastal farm in Waiuku I’m developing the HighSide community project, NZ’s first coastal paragliding flight park and charity. Boosting tourism and offering 'flight therapy' for people with disabilities or depression, fostering hope and connection. As part of Team Franklin i’ll have access to decades of combined local government expertise and as an ex-Air New Zealand pilot and architect, I bring planning expertise and fresh ideas. If elected it will be my great honour and privilege to work for the people of Waiuku, to give back to the community and fight for the things our community deserves with honesty, availability and care. Vote Hunter Hawker to ensure Waiuku’s vibrant future.

Working for Waiuku
Candidate statement
Waiuku is home for my family and me. As your Franklin Local Board member, I understand the importance of experienced, practical, and enthusiastic representation. My nine years as a City Councillor and subsequent local board service provide a clear understanding of how local government works and how to get things done for Waiuku. I am not afraid to actively speak out and stand up for our community's issues, and I am deeply enthusiastic about preserving Waiuku's special qualities. I've consistently challenged AT's costly projects, advocated for essential infrastructure before development, a sensible solution for mangrove removal and intensified calls for fair water quality for Waiuku. I champion fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability in council spending, ensuring your rates deliver value. I promise to continue dedicated leadership, actively listening to your concerns, and working tirelessly for a stronger, more prosperous Waiuku. It would be my privilege to continue serving you.

Franklin Local Board (Waiuku Subdivision)
Independent
Candidate statement
Franklin is my home, and I want to see it flourish. I have lived on this land and been part of our wonderful community for half a century, my wife and I have raised our children here and I want our home to retain it's beauty for our grand-children. I have worked within the transport and farming sectors from a young age. As a volunteer I have received the service medal of the order of St John and life membership of the large sporting club I was previously the president for. I want everyone of you to feel like your voice is heard and supported in our community. I want to preserve our recreation spaces and make them more user-friendly. I aim to provide stronger community-council communication, and hold council controlled organisations (C.C.O.s) as well as service providers to account. Let's make our home the paradise it could be!
Franklin Local Board (Waiuku Subdivision)
Independent
Candidate statement
I was born and raised in Waiuku and am now raising my own family here. This is home, and I care deeply about the future of Waiuku and West Franklin. I want to ensure our community is properly represented, with decisions that reflect what residents actually want, not what others think is best for them. Good representation starts with listening. If elected, I will create genuine opportunities for the community to have its say and will advocate strongly for those views. My focus is on delivering practical solutions that improve daily life for locals, including: improving road safety and maintenance, protecting our environment and water quality, supporting local businesses, strengthening community groups and facilities, and improving connectivity and resilience. As an independent candidate who is From Waiuku, For Waiuku - my only commitment is to the people who live here - working to achieve outcomes that matter to our community.
Franklin Local Board (Waiuku Subdivision)
Candidate statement
Tena Koutou katoa. I am standing because I care about the Waiuku Community and believe that I can be a strong advocate on the Franklin Board for local issues, concerns and aspirations. My time as Principal at Waiuku college for 13 years has made me both well informed and well connected to what matters to the people of both Waiuku township and the rural communities on the Awhitu Peninsula and surrounding areas. As a ratepayer I share concerns that in terms of services and facilities, Waiuku must not be overshadowed by the rapid growth of Pukekohe so that it remains a vibrant and attractive town to both residents and newcomers. I have previous Board experience on the Manurewa Board and Wiri Licensing Trust and I have also served on two School Boards and been involved with local groups including the Sports Park development team. Ngā mihi.
