Kia ora, I have resided in Glenfield for 14 years. I have a Bachelor of Health Science and have held various committee, volunteer and governance roles for 17 years. I am empathetic, attentive and visionary. I believe in empowering community by: Addressing unsustainable living costs; Supporting mental health respite care; Changing the T3 lane to T2 for Onewa Road; Strengthening our civil defence strategy; Advocating for ratepayers to receive value for money; Promoting proper consultation on road changes; Prioritising budgets for core services: roads, rubbish, water, and parks; Ensuring tangible improvements over excessive consultation fees; Committing to transport planning that respects freedom of movement and supports local businesses; Standing for transparency in water management and flood planning; Opposing Smart City initiatives that risk privacy and freedom through excessive surveillance. It's in my nature to question, scrutinise, and spotlight the 'elephant in the room.' I'll be your voice at the table.
I bring a distinctive blend of practicality and creativity to the Local Board, ensuring your needs are heard and prioritised, I care about this community. Core services must come first, not endless strategic reports that raise rates. I will demand that public services like Auckland Transport are accountable and no longer operate within their echo chamber. I firmly believe in democratic decision-making, financial accountability and responsive delivery.
I am a detail-oriented advocate for truth and community. With a Bachelor of Health Science, I founded Mothers Milk NZ, supporting families with donor breast milk. Over the past 17 years, I've served on key committees like the Auckland Regional Committee of Midwives, ensuring transparency and accountability. As a former PTA member, basketball coach, and AUT Student Rep, I connect authentically, fostering dialogue, problem-solving, and uplifting others while standing my ground for what's right.
My three key issues: 1) Reduce congestion on Onewa Rd by changing T3 to T2 lanes for faster commutes—Auckland Transport must stop dictating to our community. 2) I back the ‘Shoal Bay Solution’ as an affordable and smart flood mitigation option to keep Takapuna Golf Course accessible. 3) Urgent attention for safety in our streets and parks; increase support for Neighbourhood Watch, better lighting, pest eradication and more community patrols.
Onewa Road requires urgent attention, I believe in fair representation for business owners, school and churchgoers who need car parking. I support an affordable ferry service as a great alternative for commuting to the city, $50 cap for buses, trains and ferries. I will push for urgent footpath repairs, cycling where it makes sense, but not at the expense of vehicle access. I support balanced transport planning that protects freedom of movement.
I advocate for local ownership of water assets and transparent, community-consulted services. Kaipātiki’s water infrastructure needs urgent upgrades to match growth. I will empower community groups to maintain waterways and conduct checks before cyclones. We can all contribute, clearing our gutters and drains. Strengthening our civil defence strategy with local knowledge and skills is essential for resilience.
I value property rights and believe protecting our heritage is crucial for future generations. Preserved historical areas can boost tourism and attract the film industry. Prioritising infrastructure over housing intensification is key. New developments should include off-street parking to ease congestion. I support green roofs to lower urban heat and solar panels on new buildings. I oppose the UN's Agenda 2030 and 15-minute cities, as they restrict freedoms our veterans fought for.
Ban Glyphosate (weed killer- Roundup) to protect our insect biodiversity and human health. Kaipātiki's 530 hectares of bush reserves form a unique urban forest with streams, Kauri, glowworms, native mussels etc. I advocate for ongoing protection and regeneration. I promote student educational days on planting and pest ID, alongside community clean-ups to keep reserves debris-free. Protect our beaches from erosion with planting and rock walls when needed.
I support extra lighting for Shepherd's Park and more basketball courts - recreation promotes healthy minds and bodies. I propose more in-person youth events in Kaipātiki, including discos, park movies, skill days, sports, and connecting with the elderly. Collaboration with the Kaipātiki Community Facilities Trust, Hearts and Minds, and other groups will be essential. I advocate for the North Shore Women’s Centre to continue. Celebrating our diverse cultures with festivals for community unity.
I promote thriving, vibrant, safe shopping centres with a 40km zone. By embracing an over-delivery philosophy, business owners can turn the public into loyal fans who choose them over big corporate online competitors. I advocate for local landscapers to maintain Kaipātiki’s local public spaces. Local markets foster innovation, stewardship and community spirit. Heritage walks, Home and Garden tours, and local musicians and artists attract tourism and community pride and deserve promotion.
Effective storm recovery is crucial—let's increase asset management - widening pipes, clearing the creek bed to Milford Beach and ‘The Shoal Bay Solution’ will foster stormwater resilience. I support the community building Beach Haven’s Uruamo Maranga Ake Marae, it is time for this project to move forward, so our local Māori and non-Māori have a space they can call ‘home’ for celebrations, tangihanga (funerals), companionship, and Wānanga (learning space).
