Candidate for Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward
C&R - Communities and Residents
I live in Mount Wellington with my husband and three sons, and I teach at Stanhope Road School. I hold a Master's degree in Business and bring strong leadership and commercial experience from my previous role as a General Manager. Through service on boards, including Sport Auckland and Mount Wellington Charitable Trust, I've gained valuable governance experience. I'm a local advocate, a Justice of the Peace, and a former Local Board Member with a deep commitment to community service and a strong understanding of how Council works. I will champion the voice of the community and put it at the centre of Council decisions. I'm committed to ensuring ratepayer money is spent wisely and transparently. I strongly support retaining weekly rubbish collections and ensuring ongoing investment in aging infrastructure, so community assets remain fit for purpose for generations to come. Vote Tabetha Elliott and C&R.
If elected, I will advocate for weekly rubbish collection, ensure council spending is responsible and transparent, and push for investment in our aging infrastructure and community facilities. I’ll prioritise safe, accessible public spaces and work to strengthen collaboration between council and our local communities. I’m committed to being a visible, approachable representative who listens and takes action—always putting people, families, and practical outcomes at the heart of every decision.
I bring governance, leadership, and community experience to the role of Councillor. I hold a Master’s in Business, have served as a General Manager, and currently sit on several boards. I’m also a former Local Board Member and Justice of the Peace. As a teacher, mother of three, and active volunteer, I understand the challenges local families face. I know how Council works—and how to make it work better for our communities through practical, people-focused leadership.
Key Priorities: ✅ Retaining weekly rubbish collection ✅ Ensuring responsible and transparent council spending ✅ Prioritising safe, accessible public spaces
I’m committed to making transport safer and more accessible for everyone. This means better road maintenance, safer intersections, and improved pedestrian crossings. I support reliable, affordable public transport and want to see walking and cycling become safer, practical options for families and commuters. My goal is a transport network that meets the real needs of our community—making it easier and safer for people to get around, no matter how they travel.
Auckland’s water management must focus on sustainability and safety. We need to invest in infrastructure to ensure clean, reliable water and improve stormwater systems to reduce flooding and pollution. Upgrading wastewater treatment is essential to protect health and the environment. I also support community education to promote water conservation, helping safeguard this vital resource for future generations.
Auckland’s growth must balance new housing with protecting heritage and community character. We need affordable, quality homes while ensuring infrastructure like transport, parks, and facilities keep up. Sustainable development means investing in the essentials that support our communities and preserving green spaces and historic sites. This approach helps Auckland grow responsibly, meeting families’ needs without losing the unique qualities that make our city special.
Protecting Auckland’s natural spaces is essential. I support expanding green areas, restoring native habitats, and planting trees to enhance biodiversity. We must reduce pollution and improve stormwater management to protect waterways. Building climate resilience requires investing in sustainable infrastructure and supporting community conservation efforts. These steps will safeguard our environment and ensure Auckland stays healthy and vibrant for generations to come.
I plan to build strong communities by supporting local groups, encouraging collaboration, and promoting inclusive events that bring people together. I’ll advocate for well-maintained, accessible facilities and improved services that meet diverse needs. Prioritising safety and youth opportunities will boost wellbeing. By listening to residents and working closely with council and organisations, I’ll help create a connected, resilient community where everyone feels valued and supported.
I envision thriving town centres in Panmure, Glen Innes, and Onehunga that support local businesses and celebrate our cultural heritage. By investing in public spaces, improving infrastructure, and encouraging entrepreneurship, we can boost the local economy. Promoting cultural events and partnerships will strengthen community pride and showcase our diversity, making these centres vibrant places where people want to live, work, and connect.
I support strong partnerships with Māori to deliver meaningful outcomes that respect tikanga and empower iwi. The Port of Auckland must balance economic growth with environmental care and community wellbeing. Growing the Auckland Future Fund means investing in sustainable projects benefiting all. For storm recovery, I’ll prioritise resilient infrastructure, support affected communities, and improve preparedness to protect people and properties from future events.
