  • John Ronald ALCOCK

    John Ronald ALCOCK

    Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward

    Candidate statement

I stand for clear principles: Every person is their own property; The fruits of your labour are your property; You may use your property freely, provided you do not damage another’s property; If damage occurs, you must fully compensate the damage; Always act honourably and in good faith; The proper role of government is limited to managing Public Goods and Natural Monopolies - those essential services which markets alone cannot efficiently provide. These include: National and Local Defence; A fair Justice System; Emergency Services; Infrastructure that supports all of us. I will stand firmly against government overreach, wasteful spending, and unjust interference in your life and livelihood. Auckland deserves leadership that defends your freedoms, respects your property, and delivers only what is necessary - nothing more. Vote John Alcock for rational, principled leadership.

    Candidate statement

I am your councillor since elected in 2018. I served on the Maungakiekie Tamaki Local board since 2010 so I know council's processes and have governance experience. I am a local resident of 19 years and love this community. I am standing for only one position. I am committed and will work hard for a better Auckland and support the local board for the best outcomes for our area. From town centre upgrades, better transport options, infrastructure to match growth, emergency management, climate action, safe and connected neighbourhoods, community services and ensuring your rates are spent carefully. I have the skills and experience to bring a strong local voice to the decision making of Auckland Council. I am a qualified lawyer with a background in consumer affairs advocacy and community engagement. My track record of action from supporting millions into our area to action on issues you raise with me.

    C&R - Communities and Residents

    Candidate statement

I live in Mount Wellington with my husband and three sons, and I teach at Stanhope Road School. I hold a Master's degree in Business and bring strong leadership and commercial experience from my previous role as a General Manager. Through service on boards, including Sport Auckland and Mount Wellington Charitable Trust, I've gained valuable governance experience. I'm a local advocate, a Justice of the Peace, and a former Local Board Member with a deep commitment to community service and a strong understanding of how Council works. I will champion the voice of the community and put it at the centre of Council decisions. I'm committed to ensuring ratepayer money is spent wisely and transparently. I strongly support retaining weekly rubbish collections and ensuring ongoing investment in aging infrastructure, so community assets remain fit for purpose for generations to come. Vote Tabetha Elliott and C&R.

  • FaAfuhia Michael FIA

    FaAfuhia Michael FIA

    Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward

    Independent

    Candidate statement

I am standing as a candidate for Ward Councillor and as a Local Board member. I have a strong background in governance and service. Having previously served on the Boards of a large faith-based charity and the Board of a Trade Union. I currently serve on the Board of the University of Auckland. I am a District Licensing Committee Member dealing with disputed alcohol license applications. Central Government is bringing rapid changes with the return of powers held by AT, and now CCOs' functions being integrated into Council. I have grown deeply concerned about the direction taken at the Local Board level and at the Council Board Table, pursuing vanity projects and expecting you to fit the bill. I offer an independent, common-sense approach to governance, willing to work with others constructively. However, never afraid to speak truth to power. Driving accountability for ratepayers' money. We need change Vote Fia!

  • Patrick O'MEARA

    Patrick O'MEARA

    Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward

    Independent

    Candidate statement

I am answering the call from my community to stand for three positions in this year's election, because of the wide dissatisfaction of our current elected representative. Maungakiekie-Tāmaki has been my family's home for five generations, and I carry on the tradition of community service. I am currently the president of Grey Power of Howick Pakuranga & District - president of Panmure Historical - chair Panmure Basin Advisory Committee and volunteered for the Mt Wellington Community patrol New Zealand. With my work experience of Civil & Roading construction, and history working for and contracting to Council, I have the real world skill & knowledge to serve as councillor for our ward for the next three years! Please vote for Patrick O'Meara three times - it's a vote you can trust!
