Candidate statement

Multi-ethnic, multi-cultural Auckland must be a society of racial equality. One person, one vote majoritarian democracy respecting the rights of minorities must be the rule. Auckland Council must embody these fundamental principles of modern liberal democratic civilisation. In particular, Auckland Council should not promote or entrench Maori minoritarian objectives or tribal agendas over and above any others in the community. For example, Auckland Council ought not enter a joint committee established under the Local Government Act 2002 for the management of the Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area that is comprised of 50% public interest representation from Auckland Council and the Crown (Department of Conservation), on the one hand, and 50% Maori tribal private interest representation, on the other hand. The Waitakere Ranges can be perfectly managed in perpetuity to benefit their natural endowments and all Aucklanders without such oppressive, anti-democratic public-private partnership (PPP) gerrymandering. If you agree, vote for Michael Coote.
