    Putting the North Shore First

    Candidate statement

Leadership, experience and commitment to the North Shore. I'm positive and passionate about our North Shore community. I was raised here and am raising my own family here. As Chair of Kaipātiki Local Board for eight years, I've proudly led a cohesive, stable and strong board. I've 18 years governance experience, including Auckland Kindergarten board and school BOT. I've championed investment in environment, parks, shadesails, community development, bush tracks (including Kauri Glen treetop bridge); while increasing transparency and holding council/AT to account. I will prioritise: cleaner beaches/streams; safer neighbourhoods; fixing Lake Road and Onewa Road; retaining parkland; restoring slashed local board funding; improving maintenance; protecting heritage; increasing compliance enforcement. I will fight against: building where there's flood zones or insufficient infrastructure; breaching of Unitary Plan rules; congestion charges; downgrading roads to loose chipseal. As your councillor, I'll advocate for North Shore to get it's fair share. www.johngillon.co.nz

    Positive Leadership for the Shore

    Candidate statement

I'm standing for re-election as your Shore Councillor to ensure our community retains a strong, experienced voice at the council table. I build positive relationships to get results - securing increased bus services, double-deckers and electric buses, street, footpath and town centre improvements, new ferries, and additional crews to restore ferry reliability. As chair of major council committees, I've led record investment into environmental initiatives, park and bush track upgrades, and water quality projects to clean up our beaches. I'm working with government to stop inappropriate development in flood zones. I've actioned thousands of requests from residents, supported and advocated for our community during the floods and recovery. I prevented severe cuts to libraries, sports, arts, and events budgets. The Shore has always been my home, I'm deeply committed in making it a safe, sustainable, connected community, today and for future generations. Vote Richard Hills for strong, proven local leadership.

  • Helena ROZA

    Helena ROZA

    North Shore Ward

    ACT Local

    Candidate statement

Time and again, ratepayers have been let down by Auckland Council with higher rates, more bureaucrats, more wasteful spending on pet projects, and neglected public services. It’s time to give Council a wakeup call and focus on the things that matter locally. Having lived in the North Shore for 10 years, I understand the growing pressures on our community. My background as a business owner and community advocate means I have the real-life experience needed to bring fresh practical solutions to the table and get things done. By voting for me as an ACT Local candidate, you know what you are going to get. I will keep rates down, deliver the essential infrastructure, and restore transparency and accountability to the decision-making process so ratepayers know how their money is being spent. If you want to see common sense back around the council table, please give me one of your votes.
