Peter BRYDON

Candidate for Rodney Local Board (Dairy Flat Subdivision)

Candidate statement

My work history is, I came to Auckland in 1974 and joined the NZ Navy, for 12 years, on my discharge from the navy, I worked in a couple of sales positions, then went on to become self employed as an electrician in my own electrical contracting company. We moved to our current address, when DFH, was still state highway 1, so I feel I have a good understanding of the area. Reason I am standing, I would like to give back to the community, also find out why, our rates keep going up year on year, with no change to what we receive from council, also our rates seem to be a wealth tax, with nothing to do with the services provided. Rates should be standard across all properties.

Why I want to be elected

If I am elected, I would like to find out why our rates, keep going up year after year, with no change to what we receive from council. I feel I can make a difference. To me Auckland is a great city, but we are been let down by poor planning and poor performance, from those in unelected positions, and central government to me is not helping much either, from what they take in tax etc., to what comes back

My key skills and qualities

I will not take a sept back, I have been in business, and I know when things are not working, and the system we have here, to me seems not to be working, with regards to councils performance, again year on year our rates keep go up, for less out come

My top three key issues

Councils wastage, councils fortress mentality and not listening to the people who pay the bills, I feel that sometimes the council employee's, think they are working for the council, they are, but we are paying them, no accountability, no transparency, they are working for us, the rate payer's.

My position on key topics
