Candidate for Rodney Local Board (Northern Rodney Subdivision)
As a long-time dedicated Rodney resident, I am committed to serving our rural community. I am a local volunteer firefighter of 8 years, am on the board of Helensville Tennis Club, and founded and chair EveryKid Charitable Trust Manatōpu, a charity helping underprivileged youth into sport. I prioritize improving infrastructure and maintenance to ensure safer roads. My collaborative approach fosters community initiatives, supporting local projects that enhance and improve the lives of the families and children in our community. Living rurally, I understand the issues we face and advocate for equitable funding to address underinvestment in our region.
If elected, I will stand up tall with a loud voice for the North Rodney region. I will be taking the concerns and requirements of the people and making sure they are heard.
I am a very community focused individual. I have helping the wider Rodney region as a volunteer firefighter for over 7 years. I founded and chair EveryKid, a charity that covers sports fees and uniform costs for underprivileged tamariki and rangatahi. I have been on the board of Helensville tennis club for nearly a decade, including the role of chair. As a Real Estate agent of over 13 years, I have a toolbox of skills to ensure we get the most for our community .
I will be advocating for improved maintenance and upgrades of the drains and unsealed roads in the region. I want to ensure all kids and families have safe, open spaces for recreation and play. I want to resolve the issue of underfunding in this region
Increased maintenance and upgrades of our rural roads is high priority, ensuring we have prompt repairs of potholes and major corrugating on all roads. Footpaths also need to be maintained for the safety of all users - broken footpaths to be remedied
With the majority of constituents on tank supply, the main issue with water is around ensuring drains and waterways are maintained and clear of debris and vegetation to enable efficient clearing during heavy rains. Upgrades to current water infrastructure to futureproof development of key areas
We need to ensure infrastructure is in place BEFORE we develop urban areas. This includes services, roading, transport, parks and schools. Once we have these issues ironed out then we can develop without squeezing the current infrastructure to breaking point.
Protecting biodiversity is very important to ensure our future generations aren't left with just a few monocultured choices in their environment. Returning designated areas to natural bush will enhance and beautify those areas The climate will do what it does, we just need to ensure our waterways and drains are cleared and maintained. Planting out at risk land will help to protect against slippage.
