Most people want less gambling and alcohol harm in West Auckland, along with more choice, stronger communities and increased funding. But opinions on how to get there vary. The Trusts Action Group has policies that I’m proud to support, and firmly believe will achieve those outcomes. We’ll immediately remove half the pokies and increase community funding. We’ll also trigger a binding referendum, giving today’s community the chance to leave the monopoly behind. Trust monopolies don’t reduce harm in a market that’s already regulated, but they do limit choice, push business elsewhere, and return less than simple, diversified investments would.
