My principal place of residence is not in the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board (Papatoetoe Subdivision) area.
I am Kunal Bhalla, a former Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board Member and a committed community advocate. I moved to Papatoetoe in 2016 and built strong, lasting connections with local residents, businesses, and community organisations. While I no longer live in the suburb, I continue to maintain active ties through business and property interests and remain closely connected to the community’s everyday challenges and aspirations.
My professional background and governance experience, combined with my engagement with Te Ao Māori, have shaped my belief in partnership, respect, and shared responsibility. I value the contributions of Indian, Māori, Pacific, and long-standing local communities and believe Papatoetoe’s future depends on unity, trust, and inclusive leadership.
I am standing again to provide accountable, principled leadership, protect public resources, strengthen community confidence, and support practical solutions that make Papatoetoe a safer, fairer, and better place to live for everyone.
