Candidate statement
Joseph Allan is your Councillor Candidate with 9 years Local Board experience, 3 years as Manurewa Board Chair. When budgets were tight, he found funds for a new CCTV network, playground renewals, and sports field and lighting upgrades. It is time for change. Our footpaths should not be broken and dangerous. Walkways must be cleaned and streets swept to reduce blockages and flooding. Joseph will prioritise care of our neighbourhoods to foster and bring back community pride. Joseph will support your choice for weekly rubbish collections. No mucking about, voted $500,000 for animal control to tackle roaming dogs, Joseph prioritises community safety. Living in Manurewa since 1969, Joseph is Musical Director of the Manukau Youth Orchestra. From the Papakura Civic Orchestra, to driving his children to dance and martial arts, he has seen Papakura grow over four decades. Vote #LoveManurewa #LovePapakura for Local Board. I'm a local business owner and a current Local Board member with 15 years of governance experience gaining extensive knowledge in policy and decision-making. Candidate statement
Since 2016 we have allowed the same people to lead our electorate to this point in time. Some faces have changed but the controlling force has remained the same. In this decade of governance we have seen our rubbish dumping (mostly illegal dumping) completely implode, our housing development has created a future problem with possible social issues to be encountered; our town centres becoming overrun with vape shops, bars and laundromats but low rentention of wanted small businesses; our roads have become more dangerous to navigate and parking less available. It is time for a change in leadership. The real challenge is to get our towns in a condition our kids and future generations will be proud to call home. Stop this downward spiral. Discuss, debate and decide who has the passion and desire to navigate that passage way. Please vote - be part of the solution. Thank you.
