I’ve been privileged to call Devonport home for more than 30 years. I'm passionate about the Shore and its breathtaking beauty. It’s an amazing place to live and a great place to visit. But our communities are facing challenges and change. We need pragmatic, future-focused solutions. As a television presenter/producer, I have spent the best part of my life telling New Zealand stories, helping the underdog get a fair go and celebrating our sporting success on the world stage. A vote for me ensures independent decision making that's driven by a vision for a better future. I will fight for rates affordability, an end to band-aid solutions, better infrastructure, cleaner beaches and all things that help us build a prosperous community.

    Candidate statement

I'm Trish Deans. For over 22 years, I've worked passionately for our community, as Co-Chair of Devonport Heritage, Deputy Chair of the Auckland Civic Trust, President of Grey Power, former Local Board member and more. As an independent candidate, I'm committed to a collaborative and transparent approach to decision-making always putting the community first. I have a proven track record: raising public funds $125,000 for Harmony Hall, initiating the Devonport Belmont Bayswater Emergency Response Plan, and ensuring heritage protection remains a government priority. I'm not tied to any party, but to you the people of North Shore. Please support me, Trish Deans, as your independent voice for the future of our community.

  • Garth ELLINGHAM

    Garth ELLINGHAM

    Devonport-Takapuna Local Board

    Candidate statement

Garth grew up in Narrow Neck and still calls the beach home. His family’s long service with Wakatere Boating Club and North Shore Rugby Club embedded a spirit of community action. A civil and environmental engineer (BE, University of Auckland) and professional sailor, his international career exposed him to many ways societies tackle issues, and reinforced how fortunate Devonport-Takapuna is. Back on the Shore he co-founded LUCKE, proving business can succeed sustainably, and works at Chiropractic Alchemy in Milford. Garth’s priorities are practical: cleaner water and healthier beaches, fixes to the peninsula’s transport snarls, and squeezing maximum value from ratepayer dollars. He is tired of politics chaining progress. His principle is simple: 'choose to care.' That means listening first, not following agendas, negotiating differences and, when needed, compromising to secure the best community outcome. He wants residents to see their money delivering tangible benefits to regain trust in local government.

  • Kent Treloar TREGONNING

    Kent Treloar TREGONNING

    Devonport-Takapuna Local Board

    Candidate statement

I was born and grew up in Waitakere and moved to Devonport in 1995. I have a background in Civil Engineering and IT Telecommunications. After living in the UK I came back to Devonport in 2016. As my children have now grown up, I feel it’s a good time to put some of my business knowledge towards helping the community. On returning from the UK, I saw a number of significant changes, especially around the creation of the Super City and the creation of the Local Boards. As a ratepayer I am concerned about the seemingly endless call to spend money without any consequence and ability to audit or validate what the money is being spent on. I believe we need to get back to basics. I know what’s on my mind and I am determined to understand yours and represent you where it matters.

  • George WOOD

    George WOOD

    Devonport-Takapuna Local Board

    C&R - Communities and Residents

    Candidate statement

Experienced. Effective. Committed to Devonport-Takapuna. With 24 years of dedicated public service, I bring proven leadership and a relentless focus on getting results that matter. I'm a strong believer in the 'broken windows' approach - this year alone, I've submitted 359 requests to Auckland Transport to fix issues across our community. Also submitted many requests to fix issues in our parks. Fairer Funding: Devonport-Takapuna deserves better. I'll fight for our fair share to improve local services, infrastructure, and amenities. Lake Road Congestion: No more delays. I'll push for urgent upgrades and smarter traffic solutions. Flood Prevention: Our area is at risk. I'll advocate for storm water upgrades and stronger emergency response. Walkway Access: The blocked Milford-Takapuna walkway must be permanently reopened. I'll work to restore fair public access without delay. I offer experience and action this community needs. Vote George Wood and C&R, for a safer, fairer, and future-ready Devonport-Takapuna.

  • Neil ZENT

    Neil ZENT

    Devonport-Takapuna Local Board

    C&R - Communities and Residents

    Candidate statement

I have over three decades of experience as an engineer, and the ability to generate permanent solutions to local problems. I believe in preserving and improving our neighbourhoods, cutting wasteful spending, keeping rates low, and fixing things that matter. If elected, I will focus on; reducing flood risk, ending the congestion on Lake Road, and preventing crime. The Council's preparedness for the 2023 floods was pathetic, and many residents paid dearly for this. I will fight for long-term solutions. The roading congestion is ridiculous. I will champion more intelligent traffic strategies that bring roads, buses and ferries into one cohesive system. We have too many victims of crime. I will push for a return to community policing and better crime prevention. For practical solutions that work; for a Safer, Fairer, and Future-Ready Devonport-Takapuna. Vote Neil Zent of Forrest Hill/Sunnynook and my fellow C&R team
